'76 W115 300D for sale in MD
I'm listing my unfinished '76 300D. I bought the car needing a head gasket over the summer. The PO was a Diesel MB enthusiast and had recently spent $3k on new injectors, valve job, fluid flush and general tune. The HG failed and was over pressurizing the cooling system. It didn't run hot or leak water into the oil. I got the car home and started to disassemble the top end and stopped when I found a scored camshaft. The head bolts and timing chain are still connected, so I don't know what shape the head/block are in. I started working on the floor pans, cutting two sections of rust repairs out (fiberglass). The engine could potentially be revived and the floor work could be easily be completed in a weekend. With a new house, wife and two kids I just don't have the free time to finish. It would be perfect for someone with a ugly/rusty W115 to swap their good engine into. The car is just too nice to part out.
1976 300D, last year for W115 body, NA 617 5 cylinder. 230K with a clear D.C. title Engine: Bad head gasket as per description, scored cam lobes on intake and exhaust of #1/2. New fuel injectors, receipts for Quartz (expensive stuff!) synthetic oil. Transmission: Seemed ok, though I only drove it on and off the trailer. Body: Excellent paint. It was re-sprayed, but it's was done correctly. Body is above average for a W116. Interior: Originally white/ivory but the seats were toast. I have a very nice red MB-Tex interior to go with the car. Dash and console are very nice. Floor pan needs repair patches. Misc: New Michelin white wall tires. NIB V/R head gasket set, filters, wipers and other odds and ends. Location: Southern Maryland (20657). I can assist in delivery within 100 miles. Price: I'll ask $1,000, but that is completely negotiable. Make me an offer! Contact: randrewferry@hotmail.com |

What a great looking car. I am sorry I am so far away. Given how nice the car looks on the outside, I would guess that the interior would be the deciding factor for many. I would hate to see the car end up at the salvage yard. Would you consider posting pictures of the interior and seats? You mentioned a very nice red interior, which on its own should be worth $500. I really hope you are able to find a buyer. Good luck.

If the body is rust free, then 500$ is a steal.
FYI the dealer can still make key copies as long as you have the title, usually 25-35$ a set. I'd pick this car up in a heart beat if I could, with a spare om617.950, it would make a great swap

Thanks Greg. The car did have some rust repairs in the floor that I didn't like, so I cut them out with the intent of welding new metal in. Those pictures are a little over a year old after a wash, it's been sitting on the side of my property and needs a good cleaning again. I wish I had time to finish this one but it's time to let someone else have a go.

This car is far too nice to scrap. W115 prices are slowly rising. It's worth saving.

I hope the scrapyard comment is a sales technique. This car is too nice considering all it needs is a head gasket and floor pan repair. These are too rare to scrap, and if I had more room to take in another car I'd probably buy it myself. I've always wanted a W115 or W116.

I don't need the space or the money, I'd just like someone to get it back on the road before it rots even more. You don't see these around anymore.

Wish I had room to take on a project - love the W114/115s.
Would you be willing to sell me the hubcaps? I have a 904 W123 in need... Thanks!

This is tempting even though I don't have the money or time right now ... but I can make garage space and I'd really like a w115. Have you found any rust other than the floorboards? Anything on suspension points? Floorboards are no big deal but I definitely have had my fill of rust lately.
