87 300D, 5 speed #22 head

https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/5458475423.html

Listing my 87 300d for sale.

I bought this to be my daily driver almost a year ago and was in the process of fixing everything. I was rear ended in my daily driver and needed something ASAP so bought a 98 e300... Anyhow this is my project car. Its pretty clean but still needs a few things to make it perfect. Has 235k miles. Anyway just trying to get some of the cash I have in it back.

Good:
#22 head
5 speed conversion, not sure what model it was from
updated vacuum pump
Strong even compression
Just did delivery valve seals
clean interior
decent paint, no rust/body damage
working ac, just replaced monovalve, auxiliary pump, computer and defroster pod.
Brand new tires
Rebuilt injectors (by greazzer)

Room for improvement:
Could use the rear suspension redone(that was next on my list)
Dead tack and elr (probably klima)
Slight leak in ps box shaft seal, I have the seal kit to go with it
Dash is cracked, comes with a crack free replacement
Power antenna needs replaced (have a spare)
temp readout black

Comes with lots of spares:
Dash, ribbed timing cover, ac line, original seat back pockets, extra vacuum pump ramps, crank, rods, all sorts of nifty om603 stuff....
$4000 obo
North County San Diego are

Wow, very nice. I'm looking for either a W123 or W124 300TD, otherwise I would be all over your great project car. Question please--if you know, I would really appreciate your telling me anything at all about the conversion of your 603 engine (is it a 603?) to a manual gearbox, something I really want to do on the Estate I finally get. Do you know much about the conversion? I see you're 'not sure what model it was from', but hope you might give me at least a starting point on finding out more about this conversion. Also, what is 'elr' and 'klima'? Thanks.

PS: Have any idea where I might find a #22 head that's not priced way high, for instance like the one on eBay now?

Thanks, yeah.. I wish I had a wagon too... As far as the manual swap it was done by a previous owner. Its pretty straight forward and I think there are a couple threads with details.. winmutt did a good write up.. there is also a thread in the performance section I think. The box everyone wants is from the 2.3 16v car but they are very hard to find. Mine is from some sort of 190.. not sure which one but its not the dogleg one so not the 16v. You have to swap the peddle obviously and get a crossmember, driveshaft mod... also you can get rid of a ton of the vacuum stuff especially if you disconnect the smog stuff.

As for the elr... it controls idle speed electronically. There is a relay that powers it and the tach I think. Lots of threads on specifics as this relay is a trouble spot for w124's. These cars idle just fine without and there is a fine adjustment on the injector pump.

Thanks for the tips! I think I came across the ELR in my studies--it's the electrical idle rpm control knob you pull out and plug back in with seven different positions. I will start looking some more about manual gearbox conversion after your tips.

What's a 'klima'--the automatic climate control system?

Yeah, klima is for the climate control system but does has a tach signal input to drive the ac system. The ovp (over voltage protection) relay also makes these cars do weird things too if malfunctioning.
