Looks like a nice car. Worth fixing for the right person. Good luck!

Is there enough damage on the center pillar that will cause problems if just the doors are replaced? I saw your car on Craigslist, and have been thinking about looking at it. will it have a salvage title?

Thanks

Good question. I doubt you could just replace doors and have them close fully.

The car does not and will not have a salvage title.

You may get away easy on the column as its low - what do you think about the inner rocker panel? I am only asking to see if my thoughts were on track

car 7 pic makes it look like the step plate is lifted. is it really that bent under that section, or does the piece need to be snapped down? did you ever get a quote to just repair the frame there? i would be fine with getting 2 other doors and eventually painting again.

If you look at the shut lines on the upper door window frame it is clear that the post has been pushed in. That'll need to be pushed out. i doubt that will be a problem for a skilled body man. Then the rocker looks bent in too so that'll need to be pulled or cut out and replaced. He has a repair estimate using new doors....without the new doors and used ones for 100 each it will make a reasonable repair cost it looks like to me. I'd be reluctant as an advanced amature to tackle it. Many years ago I bought a 240d with heavy front side impact. I straightened it and replaced the hood and one fender, making a nice reliable driver for my 16 year old son. ....course I bought the car for 600.....and it was also drivable and it was 16 years ago or more..) Oh and I brush painted the new hood and fender with high quality paint and it didn't look too bad at 20'.

It's bent there. The rocker is bent and the center column is bent. I'd be happy to go a get a quote this weekend to just pull that section out if it will bring you closer to buying it from me.

In thinking back i bought a nice not too old 240d about 15 years ago that had been hit and the post pushed in. It was fixed very nicely.

I bought that car on a thursday and on Friday I took off for Rice Lake in Ontario with my son and his buddy to go fishing. My wife said You taking that new to you car? You don't know anything about it. I said "It'll be fine", I changed the oil and air filter and we took off. We set the cruise on 73 and went for it. Never missed a beat.

...had about 180,000 miles when I bought it and it looked pretty much like brand new. The guy I bought it from was a traveling salesman....it was an 83 IIRC and the year was about 1994 or so.

Yes, i am interested in knowing the estimate. i can source some doors and deal with them not matching until it gets a repaint (if ever).
