SOLD! 1990 300D W124 Diesel Sedan - $999.00 - Tampa, FL
It's got approximately 452,800 on the clock. Yup, almost half a million miles.
More/bigger pictures can be seen here. I bought it from a guy who was moving out of town and just had to get it out of his driveway. I haven't put a lot of work into it, so I'm pricing it accordingly. Most of what it needs from what I can tell at this point is detail stuff and nothing terribly expensive - things I wouldn't think would affect your ability to drive it while you make the remaining repairs. The transmission was rebuilt a few years ago based on an invoice that came with the car. It shifts crisply as you would expect an MB transmission to do so. That's the extent of the service records I could find. When I recently got the car it got the oil and filter changed, coolant flushed and filled with fresh Mercedes coolant, new fuel filters and a new air filter. I topped off the AC system which has been converted to R134a. I pulled the cluster and relamped it. It runs strong, temperature holds steady at 85C during cruise, tracks straight without pulling when braking, brakes are good, rides as you would expect a W124 to do so - a little hard but sporty, if you could say that about a diesel. The AC blows cold and the Kumho tires appear to be nearly new and have little wear. The power sunroof works. The interior is amazingly clean considering the age and presumed miles on the car. The central locking system works. The back seat is so clean and unused I have been having a hard time getting the bottom seat cushion back in place because the upholstery is so clean and the springs/cushions are uncompressed. Here are the detail items I have noticed: Passenger and both rear windows do not work. I'm assuming the rear windows need regulators, as both of them will slide down on their own. It's possible the switches might just need cleaning, I haven't investigated this further. Power seat adjusters on front seats work, but need the little buttons replaced. Original Becker stereo works, but the front speakers are "muddy" sounding and the right rear doesn't sound like it's working. A new antenna mast is needed. I can hear the antenna motor run when you turn the radio on/off. Windshield washer fluid reservoir needs a plug in the spare hole where the (optional) headlight washer pump would go. Outside temperature display in the instrument cluster is bad. Wow! Never seen that. Center AC vent doesn't work, so I'm assuming it's the vacuum actuator. Blows like crazy out the side and defroster vents, and the fan adjusts accordingly to temperature settings. The monovalve is bad and I have clamped the line off. Cruise control does not work. Based on the vibration at idle, the engine mounts probably need replacement. Lower bumper skirt is cracked at front right. A fair number of rock chips in the hood and some dings all around. Long story short, this isn't a showroom car, so please don't come with high expectations. I have tried to describe it as best I can. It is being sold "as-is, where-is". In the neighborhood? Bring cash, as it talks and I want to move on to another car soon... Interested? Drop me a PM. Dan Last edited by LWB250; 06-23-2016 at 09:54 AM. Reason: Car has been sold |
