FS: 1987 300TD Wagon, With Dead IP, or Worse, Las Vegas
HI All,
I got scammed on ebay, and stupidly bought a 300TD wagon that the seller had been running on unfiltered vegetable oil. I didn't know he had been running it on unfiltered vegetable oil until I broke down and cleared out the primary filter, which was full of fast food oil debris and garbage. Of course, this wasn't something he mentioned. He also failed to disclose a variety of other problems that left me stranded five times on the way from Boise to Las Vegas. And forget about ebay's buyer protection, it doesn't work if the vehicle is older than ten years old. I believe strongly the injector pump was ruined by running unfiltered vegetable oil. I observed fuel getting to the injectors, but the combustion wasn't happening no matter what I did. Perhaps the IP wasn't the only thing that was wrecked? At any rate, the body had too much rust for me to consider continuing the project, along with a wrecked IP, I no longer want the car. The head is a #22. The transmission works smoothly. The odometer says something like 290k, though the seller changed the odometer, and I believe he was lying about the true mileage. Observations: Body speckled with uniform rust. This wasnt mentioned in the ebay auction. Broken front windshield, not mentioned in the auction. Various rust holes, not mentioned in the auction. Use of unfiltered vegetable oil, signs and deposits. Not mentioned in the auction. Various dents, not mentioned in the auction. All fuel hoses leaking, requiring replacement. All IP fuel return lines, leaking. Interior in decent condition, seats intact. Salvage Title. All of this being said, is anybody willing to save a 300TD wagon from the crusher? You will need a tow dolly or other means of towing this car. Id like to get $1000 for the car, since I paid $2700 just a week ago. The seller very much lied about its condition, and in no way can I charge somebody the same. PM me with your questions. |

bummer that happened. So you're in Vegas? I'm thinking that's not too bad a price for the sake of the head and any number of other parts. Too bad Vegas is too far away for me. "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!" Oy, I know baaaad joke!

Indeed, its an awful situation. It just another lesson for me and everyone else that ebay does not protect the buyer, even when you show fraud was clearly employed.
