Don't underestimate the ability of motivated owners in New England to protect their cars from the salt. The PO of my CDI was maniacal....washed and waxed it once a week, always washed whenever exposed to salt, and sprayed oil under the car (he had a contact in the transportation department!). Eleven years later you look under the car and it's simply perfect.

Shertex, have you checked your CDI's rear springs for rust?

Thanks to DD PeachParts forum members, this is an area on the CDIs to check. (Haven't checked mine yet.)

ROLLGUY, SHERTEX:

I don't monitor CL, because I would only buy from a dealer. Preferably an MB dealer used lot. Too many small time curbstoners, shape shifting fly by night weasels out there.

There's no mileage listed in the CL ad. Shoot, there's (or was) a CDI @ a major car brand dealer in Little Rock, Arkansas with a white CDI with 39K on it for about the same $.

With a major brand dealer, you can sit down and study the Carfax, VMI records, put it up on their lift, and take your time assessing it. That's what I did anyway @ MB of San Antonio, TX. where I bought mine. They sold it new, and it was traded in @ 7-years old with 59K miles. I was at their dealership the 3rd day it was put on AutoTrader.com. I was in Houston working, and drove over immediately. I test drove it. (Loved it) Then pored over the records at the salesman's cubicle.

I should probably go look at the one in Little Rock.

I believe it IS in pristine condition, and still overpriced in my opinion. I also don't care for the black interior.

A black interior really makes a car hot! I have a silver w210 with a black interior and I couldn't believe how hot it gets in the sun - and I live in Pennsylvania. I had a silver w126 with a dark blue interior and that was noticeably cooler than the black one.

Good luck with your search rollguy.

I bought this car. Miles are near 250,000. Looks better than most of these that i see around Wisconsin. Best optioned Diesel of this era, that i have seen.
