1989 300CE - update, vehicle has been SOLD

UPDATE, vehicle has been SOLD

- - - - -

I am the second owner of a 1989 300CE which I am offering for sale.

~217k miles, no major dents, driver seat bottom rough, otherwise a fine automobile. Everything works, (except maybe the cruise control. Can't remember for sure.) It's the light tan color with Parchment interior, (ivory colored).

I replaced the 16-hole chrome wheels with 8-hole painted wheels that are slightly wider than OEM. Also replaced the shocks with Bilstein HD. It handles awesome.

Now the bad. I had the car serviced on schedule by Enrique of Mr. MB Motors fame, but parked it in the garage when he retired. Never trusted anybody else to work on it. I drove it into the garage and parked it, placing it on non-op status. It has sat, unstarted the past seven years. As you can surmise, the battery is long dead and a couple of the tires are starting to get low. It ran just fine when I parked it.

The reason for selling it is that I have recently retired and do not want to take it with me to my new retirement home far, far away from my current home. I should have sold it a long time ago, but have had too strong of an emotional attachment to it. I just know that I will rue the day I sign over the pink slip.

Since it has not been run for quite awhile, I am selling it as a "parts car", and will NOT pay to smog it. The state law wants me to pay for smoging it, but I will not pay the expense of getting it running again and passing the test. Hence, selling it as a "parts car". If you want to smog it, that's your business, (it passed all the other smog tests it has had since I first purchased it 14-15 years ago).

I do not have any recent photos. Possibly later today I can snap a couple.

You can have it for $100, if you come and haul it away. I am located in the Antelope Valley, north of the Los Angeles basin.

Oops. Couple other minor items.

The headlight wiper motor/blades have been removed and new faceplates, (without the holes), have been installed. They were painted to match the rest of the body.

One of the headlight "doors" is cracked in front of the fog light. Fog light works fine, just a pretty awful crack from a rock in the plastic cover.

I can't believe no one is jumping on this? I'd be on this like a fly on **** in 2 seconds if I wasn't in PA.

jake12tech, please see first line of first post in thread. Vehicle is sold. It was picked up last night. For kicks, I put it on a charger for abut 24-hours and asked permission of the new owner if I could try to start it. It started pretty quickly. We drove it around the neighborhood and it worked fine, even with seven-year old gasoline.

The new owner is very, very happy and pleased to get the car. He even fixed my 190D by installing a replacement voltage regulator. That saved me a couple hundred bucks right there.

I'm only mildly heart-broken. I loved that car, but now that I'm retired, I'd have a difficult time maintaining it properly on a retiree budget. Keeping the diesel, because they don't need as much routine maintenance, (in my experience).
