For sale: 1977 W123 300D
I am selling a 1977 300d. This belonged to former active peachparts member Oracle12345. He has, unfortunately, passed on, and I, his older brother, would love to see the car fall into the hands of someone who appreciates these great cars. I have a 1983 300D that Lyle and I put a 4 speed manual gearbox in, and has helped me work on that car for the past 12 years. He purchased his 1977 because he fell in love with these cars. The car has 220,000 miles on it and was well maintained. Previous owners neglected this car and my brother was close to finish line to get this car looking very nice.
Here are the pros: 1) solid body with minor paint issues and surface rust in a few spots, but nothing major and overall excellent for it's age. Engine hood Replaced due to driving mishap, and needs to be repainted to match the car. 2) converted to run later style glow plug system, Relay, plugs with adapters and everything. Original loop style relay and plugs will come with the car, but not installed. 3) 1983 240D heating system conversion. The Autotemp1 system has been replaced with a manual system out of a later 240D. No expensive or finicky servo controls to worry about from a notoriously unreliable system. Dual zone and completely easy to work on 4) No sunroof. This car lacks a sunroof. I'm having problems with mine. 5) many new parts installed, and lots of money put into it. Many parts purchased are no longer available. 6) relatively leak free, though the car does consume oil and leak a bit. Still not terrible. 7) overall solid car that needs to be pushed over the finish line. Clean title and registration. I really want this car to go into someone who loved this car as Lyle did. cons: 1) Central locking system needs diagnosis. Not functioning. 2) Rear springs are tired and need replacing. 3) center console and other possible interior lighting issues. probably due to grounding issues. 4) fuel reserve light does not come on 5) exhaust leak 6) Rear differential cover leaks. 7) possible vacuum pump issues. Extra loose parts included. 1) Automatic transmission. Worked when removed. removed due to a worn bushing causing a small ATF leak. 2) AC compressor and bracket. 3) Two injection pumps, one complete and good (from 81 I parted out) and one mostly intact (not sure how well it works) 4) rear differential (from low mileage 1981) 5) Alternator, starter (needs solenoid) and other small electrical parts specific to early W123 chassis cars. Other non-turbo OM617 specific mechanical parts (I need to go through my part shelves) I am asking $1500 of best offer. The car is located in Montville, CT. Many rare, no longer available and/or expensive parts included to help keep this care on the road when the parts were more readily available. Some pics he uploaded. 1977 300D - Oracle12345’s Photo Gallery - PeachParts Mercedes ShopForum Last edited by W123driver; 08-17-2017 at 10:18 PM. Reason: Lower Price |

I have posted to the the local Craigslist with more pictures. The price has been reduced to $1000 as the car will need to be trailered by the purchaser. |
