Too bad it's rusty. How rusty is it? Too bad to fix, but what about a beater driver? Is it functional in the peripheral systems; heat, air, wipers, blinkers, etc? Might serve somebody well enough as is, eh?

it's pretty far gone. i think it would be better to swap the gearbox into a better platform with a turbo motor

Oh well. If I was going to the trouble to convert my wagon to manual, I would want to end up with a 5 speed. I "think" I would like the Euro heat/AC system better than my vacuum control, pods with deteriorating diaphragms, system. I have never had direct experience with one of those systems, however, or even a 240D. Aren't they pretty much the same? Wish I could just pop over and check it out in person.
Thought if I "saved" money with a beater, I could spend that money on my Ponton. But my wagon is my daily driver. Logically, I should sell the Ponton and spend that on the wagon. But I'm so hooked on the Ponton, much to my wife's chagrin. It's a 1958 220S Webasto roof sedan. Green, with tan interior, and real spoke wheels in 14 inch size. Original 13 inch rims and hubcaps still with it as well.
Good luck with the sale, hope someone feels it's the right thing for them.

distance seems to be the stumbling block.

And of course, the lack of sufficient funds and time to reduce or eliminate said stumbling block. As usual.

Thanks, and best of luck. Hope someone near enough, or well funded enough, comes upon it.
