. 1994 Mercedes-Benz S500, recent service, excellent condition
This 1994 S500 was almost $100,000 when new and is still in excellent condition. The color is Polar White with gray leather interior. The central locking, infrared remote control, door closing assist, power windows, power seats, power antenna, stereo system, CD changer, and sunroof all work correctly. The AC blows cold in summer and the car has both front AND rear heated seats. The windows are dual-pane glass for reduced noise and improved thermal insulation. This is the long wheelbase version of the 140 chassis (designated V140, vs the standard wheelbase W140) and it has an amazing amount of legroom both front and rear. The S500 has a 5.0L DOHC V8 with 315hp (the S320, S350, S420, and S600 from 1992-1999 share the same 140 chassis but have different engines).
The paint is very good but not perfect, there are small dings & chips, some are shown in the photos (see link below to 50 photos, Craigslist only allows 24 pictures). The interior is excellent except for a small tear on the driver seat bolster which can be seen in the photos. Never smoked in, no pets either, very clean inside and out. Owner's manual and 2 working infrared flip-out key fobs are included. The car was originally from California and is rust-free. We have owned the car for 6 years and simply do not drive it enough to justify keeping it, so it is looking for a new home.
As a Mercedes enthusiast and mechanic, I have made sure all maintenance and service is up to date. The common issues with this engine have already been addressed: upper timing chain rails have been replaced, along with the engine wiring harness and ETA (electronic throttle actuator). Michelin tires have 80-90% tread remaining. New brake rotors and Akebono Euro Ceramic brake pads were installed front and rear at 186kmi. The car does not leak or drip any fluids on the driveway. The transmission was rebuilt prior to my ownership but I do not know how many miles are on it; however it shifts perfectly and has zero leaks. Odometer currently reads 192,9xx. The car cruises effortlessly and smoothly at 80mph on the freeway. Typical fuel economy is 16-17mpg in town and 18-20mpg on a long highway trip.
Recent parts replaced in the last 5000 miles include:
* New Lemforder Germany engine mounts
* New Lemforder Germany rear wheel support joints
* New OE Mercedes high pressure fuel hose after fuel pumps
* New OE Mercedes high pressure fuel hoses at engine (both hoses)
* New Bosch oxygen sensor
Recent service & maintenance completed in the last 3000 miles include:
* Engine oil & filter changed
* Transmission fluid & filter changed
* Brake fluid flushed
* Cooling system flushed, 50/50 mix Zerex G-05
* Engine air filter replaced
* HVAC cabin dust filter replaced
* New Bosch F8DC4 spark plugs
