Save them from the scrapper! 190D and 190E shell for $995 obo/trade

I'm needing to offload my 190D project at a considerable loss. Insurance doesn't want it on my property anymore. They are located in Stockbridge, GA, just 25ish minutes south of Atlanta.

It includes:
1987 190D 2.5- Not the turbo. Runs decently well, but has 320K miles. Smokes a. Engine had injectors rebuilt w/ new Monark nozzles by Greazzer. Genuine water pump in past 2k miles. Tensioner and belt and engine mounts also recently replaced with OES or similar quality parts. Rebuilt transmission from Sun Valley and most suspension components (including shocks and springs) replaced in the past 8K miles. Rebuilt climate control unit. AC is charged but didn't work b/c of bad KLIMA relay, found another one, but never had the chance to test it. Brakes were upgraded to 2.6 at least in the front with genuine discs and textar pads IIRC, new master cylinder, new brake flex lines. I have extra parts, including the injection pump and injectors, fuel filter housing out of another 190D 2.5 plus the airbox with good vacuum elements. Has 16 inch W124 8 hole rims, tires on the rear were replaced recently.

Here's a video of it running and walk around:

Here are some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/T2FTE

The reason why I started this project was that I found some pretty bad rust near the frame rail and decided I didn't want to drive it with that much rust. Compared to many other cars I've seen, it's not the worst but not a southern car at all.

I bought a 1991 190E 2.3 with a blown engine to swap the driveline and suspension into but never got around to starting as I had to do a lot of work on my 190E Sportline LE.

1991 190E 2.3 shell:
Rust free- clean as heck underneath.
Passenger fender was backed into, I have a replacement with good paint
Paint besides some of the trim is pretty good, a few dings here and there but nothing bad
Interior was decent and could clean up but molded up sitting in my garage

Here are some pictures:

I'm wanting $995 for the two, less than I paid for the 190D in the first place, and less than half of the cost of the rebuilt transmission alone. I would prefer to sell as a pair.

Make me an offer. I'm looking for a few parts for other cars:
For W201- 190E 2.6/300E manual front driveshaft, AMG bodykit pieces, Evo I/II rims, LSD core, black interior pieces, 5 speed shift knob, rear sway bar upgrade.
For W123- 300D manual 5 speed or 300D driveshaft, blue dash in decent shape

I'm considering slapping some tires on the 190D and getting it registered as my daily driver since my Sportline will be a manual here soon and that might be annoying to daily in Atlanta with its hills and traffic.

But I am certainly trying to sell both cars still! Neither are perfect but at $700 for the pair, you get lots of extra parts for a car that runs and drives well enough.

Also, I have a running and driving 96 Mercury Grand Marquis for $500! Buy all three for $1000! It's not great cosmetically either and probably needs an intake job at some point in the future but hasn't given up on us yet.

Worked out with insurance to keep the 190D. Parting it, drivetrain is going in my buddy's Mazda pickup. 190E is still for sale, first $100 takes it.

What insurance doesn't want it on your property and why? Usually it's zoning or code enforcement that gets on your case for that.

almost all home insurance companies have problems with what they consider "abandoned vehicles" to varying degrees. Probably some issue along those lines. Im betting a hazard inspector sent in some compromising images.

they range from cancelling your policy to jacking the premium ect. However, I found this issue solved with a temporary carport on my property. If they can't see it, they don't care.

Never had that insurance issue in the 20 years I've lived here with unregistered cars. Maybe getting a different company is in order. Or a car cover.

depends on the nature of the unregistered. Is it ripped apart all over the yard? then its possible to be classified as an attractive nuisance and insurance hazard. Is it simply sitting there with no plates? thats something else.

Depends on the insurance company, locality, nature of the hazard, and the inspector.

Then it's not a car, it just a bunch of parts laying around. What are they going to say next, your lawn furniture or kids toys scattered about the yard are an attractive nuisance and insurance hazard too? If my insurance told me that, I'd be looking at replacing them soon.

They didn't want any unregistered cars on the property that weren't in an enclosure. AFAIK, we weren't breaking any codes. Company ended up dropping us on other properties (given no reason, we did all of the work on the properties that they requested in the 10 days they gave us to do it but apparently wasn't enough) so we totally moved away from them for our properties and the new company hasn't complained yet but I don't think they've sent over anyone to inspect it. At this point, I don't really need the white car anymore and don't want to risk any more issues so I'm trying to get it gone.

We did our best to hide that these were essentially parts cars, though the neighbors certainly have some things that would qualify as an "attractive nuisance" and some farm animals that probably break city ordinances but that don't seem to bother their insurance company or the city. It doesn't really bother me but our property certainly looks better kept up.

No shlt. As i said, it might be considered an attractive nuisance. Pile of parts counts.

I found you have no problems with inspectors if you put a plate on your parts car, even just a random plate for sitting in the yard. They wont photograph cars that are plated.

This is why the project cars live in my buddy's woods
