WANTED: w123 - 240D Auto
I'm looking for a nice w123 240D. Needs to be an auto-tranny & in pretty decent shape. I've been looking at a lot of them that are described as fabulous, but end up needing steering/suspension complete overhauls, new A/C systems, etc.
Anyone know of a nice 240D that is a good driver - doesn't need to be perfect, but should be nicely serviceable. The newer, the better, but any w123 ('77-'83) 240D automatic will work out if it's the right, rust free car Thanks for your assistance.

I have a W123 1982 240D FS
I am putting my 1982 240D up for sale since I have another project to work on and don't need this one to take up too much room in my drive way. The central locking works but it does lose its vacuum shortly after shutting off the car. AC works but has been converted to R134 by a PO, Cruise even works(I've been driving this daily for my commute), Radio works, some cracks on dash, no rust, tires are about 18 months old and all four hubcaps are on, auto tranny, manual windows, no sunroof, and the suspension rides very well (like I said, I am driving it right now as a daily commuter and it hasn't left me along the road yet) it also has 192,+++ miles on it.

Found one!
Well, I finally found a 240D that fits with what I was looking for this weekend & am now the proud owner. Funny how after looking off and on for months - pretty seriously for the past two - I found one for sale 7 miles from my house. It's an '83, 210k miles, green (dark - like BRG - what did MB call it?), palomino interior, auto, manual windows, no sunroof, original paint, no accidents, bought from the lady who owned it for 19 years, starts right up from cold, shifts well, many records, new rad - water pump - thermostat - hoses, NO rust, not screwed with, etc. It's got some issues that were nice bargaining tools.... Will need a starter soon, needs a couple door check straps, needs two of the plastic parts of the window cranks that keep the cranks on, will need an alignment, but has new-ish upper control arms (last 30k miles) so the front end is not totally ragged out, door locks naturally have issues but car shuts off fine & shifts are not harsh.... I managed to put 200 miles on it this weekend without a glitch.
I'll shoot some pics with the digital when I have the chance, but it may be a little while - traveling for the 4th weekend & will have houseguests the following weekend. Now if anyone is in the market for a '98 VW New Beetle, vergasser, 70k miles, stick, cold A/C (new compressor 1 year ago), starter replaced 1 year ago, please PM me!

82 240d
I'm toying with the idea of selling my 82 240d auto with 98K miles. Navy blue with tan Tex. I am second owner and the car has always been garaged. Not sure if I want to sell but let me know if interested...
