I have a silver 1998 E300 with 150K I picked up from Maryland. I bought it off a Benz tech. It is a VERY nice car. The interior and paint are pristine. I bought it as a "junk car removal" and saw it was too clean to be junk and inquired about it immediately to buy it regardless.

The car was missing an intake manifold, brake calipers and a few other dumb oddds and ends. I put a bumper on it, 4 calipers rebuilt, and 14 new intake manifold bolts from Benz ($85) and wet sanded and recleared the headlights to make them look brand new.

I also welded the rocker that had rust (the only spot on the car) and took it to our body shop that is certified for Benz to respray them the factory paint for the rockers.

It is a ridiculously nice E300 that has:
2 new front springs
recent trans
brake pads, rotors, calipers all around
EGR delete
new glow plugs
fuel filter
tinted windows (5 percent tint because of the black interior)
used front bumper resprayed and blended to the existing paint

I know it is a hike from you but if you are interested, I will produce pictures and be at $4200 OBO (I would work with you because of distance)

I have 6 cars with 3 more on the way (insane package deal) and 2 motorcycles. I'm getting out of hand, something needs to go.

The only thing is I have no records of maintenance, but what I have done myself. The trans is definitely newer, it has a reman sticker on it. I'm not sure why it was replaced so soon, must've been never serviced because of the "sealed for life" BS.

Do you actually mean spring perches? I've heard of spring perches needing replacement on these cars but not the springs themselves.

No. Spring perches are clean as could be Two coil springs were replaced because it had E55 AMG Springs on it and a set of monoblocks that we swapped on his lift at Benz before I brought it home. the two springs we put on the front were very worn and made the car sag that it destroyed the bumper going on the rollback despite my caution.

I understand you're looking for something closer but i am throwing it out there as an option if need be. if a forum member doesn't buy it I won't sell it to anyone else and keep it.

I want to clarify something I said earlier about my W124s. I said that they are all giving me troubles when I meant to say that all of my diesel W124s are giving me troubles. I have a few gas ones (my trusty CIS-E cars) that are still doing fine despite their age but the issue I have with them is they don't come close to the fuel economy of my OM603s.

I just got two w124 om602s. Are you considering selling the om603s?

Yes, but not all of them. They have the unique priviledge of being old enough that they don't need to be smogged out here. That misery didn't start for diesels until '98, the first year of the Turbo OM606 (of course).

Owning and having these older W124s could be more workable if I had something newer that I could depend on being able to fall back on.

We are talking the whole cars right? Not just the engines?

Ammending my earlier responses to you, I actually have seven OM603 powered vehicles. Most of them are missing from the sig because it is already maxxed out. All but one still have their #14 heads, and all of the engines run great. It's the rest of the car(s) that are giving me fits. Especially the electrical stuff which is pure hell for me because electrical stuff is what I'm weakest at!

if you read the listing it states AMG APPEARANCE. no picture, makes that hard to imagine.... stil a dream car for me as I would never plunk down that kind of money for pure VANITY.

Thanks for the link but my upper limit is about $8,000.

Funny how the later V6 guys want to talk about how their cars are the ones to get because the new Benz diesels being sold here are only 4 bangers.
