91 350 SDL for restoration or parts
Like new interior (Mushroom), leather excellent, all systems working, new SVT transmission, 17" AMG wheels, 3.0 block with 350 head, spare rear windshield, aluminium radiator. New monovalve and water heater motor, new flex disks.
Needs top half (Tan) painted, paint is checked. Overheats in mountains, put a aluminium radiator in but did not solve problem. Someone put aftermarket electric radiator fans in before I got the car, maybe the problem. Car runs fine on flat ground, around town, etc. R12 A/C functions well. Both my wife and myself are older. I have restored 3 old MB's but can't do it any more. Would like to see car go to good home and restored, not much left to do. $2995, car is located in Hickory, Statesville, NC area. Thank you Last edited by loneranger; 07-22-2018 at 05:37 PM. |

A little more info will help with the sale. How many miles, who did the short block swap, condition of tires, brakes, transmission, etc. Photos even better.

also interested in more information
Left a PM also. How many miles on the conversion and has the overheating always been there?
I live about 30 miles way, would be interested in looking at the car one evening if schedules fit. Chuck |

update on car for sale
Folks,
I met Al tonight and looked at his car. He is a great guy and has done a lot on this vehicle. He rebuilt the engine, had the head gone over at a machine shop. The engine runs great, but as he said a little warm. I drove the car (already warmed up) for about 10 miles on the interstate at 75 mph with the AC on (working well, exterior temp was almost 90*). The car was running at about 105*, it cooled right down when I slowed to 55. This may be the viscous fan, not sure. But it ran very smooth and idled great with excellent oil pressure. The only down side was a bit of minor diesel seepage around the injector pump. Probably an easy fix. The only in-op item was the radio. There were a few rough shifts by the tranny, but that may have been my letting off and on the throttle. According to Al it was recently rebuilt and doing well. As he said, the paint is rough, all over. One fender was replaced due to a small rust spot he said. The rest of the car is rust free from what I saw. There might be a small ding or two, but the body is straight. All windows seal and the trunk is dry. The interior leather is very nice, hopefully I am attaching some pictures. The leather needs a cleaning but is in great shape. Same with the carpets, a few stains but no rips and should clean up. I am still deciding if I can handle another project, but thought I would assist in giving others a second point of view and hopefully a few pix of the car. more pix
also the car has 17" amg rims with good tires. The car has about 219K on the chassis. He was unsure on the 3.0 short block but thought it was around 200K. When he pulled the head he said the rings and cylinders were excellent. I saw no oil smoke or blow-by. The car was warm, and started immediately to a smooth idle.

I did all the work myself except the work on the head. The machine shop said the exhaust valve guides were a little loose so had them replaced. New timing chain. valve seals. I was redoing this car for myself. Had to move to Beech Mountain for my wife's health, no place for a Diesel 2wd MB. Driving a Subaru Forester now.
