Incredible 76 240D: Anal Retentive Documentation

This 76 240D was owned for 24 years by an anal retentive elderly gentleman, an engineer who kept detailed records/documentation on every repair, oil change, service and even gallon of fuel. It has a 4-speed transmission. It only has 117K pampered miles and looks like much less. Southern car with no rust, body damage, interior wear, etc. Dash pad looks new. Tires have 10K, cold ac, completely rebuilt a few yrs ago. Only driven 4300 miles per year and was covered AND garaged. I have a file of pics that I will email to the serious, or call for honest description. 601-605-6398 (Mississippi). This one is a rare find. Prefer it to go to an enthusiast. $4200 Firm.

No, but I saw the one you are talking about. It was a northern (Pennsylvania, I believe) car with an automatic and was for sale by a dealer. The "Buy it Now" price was $5977.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Bill, Yes, planning on bringing Nellibelle. This one does not have the right hand mirror. I think that may have come on the 115 300D's but not the 240D's.

Somehow I'm not surprised that you contact the body-kit MB seller using a beeper number!

Mississippi 240D

Wow, you guys are good! The gentleman I bought the car from had the passenger side mirror installed. You are correct, sir, the car did not come with it. No, it does not have a sunroof. The only non-original item on the car is an Alpine cassette am/fm stereo. This guy made his wife park in the shade to protect the dash pad, made her place a towel on the bumper when she filled the car to protect the chrome and would not allow her to slam doors. Great guy. He did have the horsehair restuffed.

Bill,
With the number of cars in your sig. that you've bought, sold or ?, I'd have to say you've never seen a Mercedes that you didn't like! Cars can be like women, but you don't have to marry them ALL! With your Mercedes history I guess they all become a blur.

still have her?

Did you sell the 240D yet? I'd like to call you and talk about it if she's still available.

240D

I thought it was sold (I've been holding it), but the buyer changed his mind today! I'm not really a motivated seller...getting attached to it.

Bill, you're averaging a different Mercedes every six months or so!! I hope you've got your insurance agent on speed-dial!

what a nice one....

Dad and I drove to Mississippi to pick her up on Friday after Thanksgiving. We left Atlanta at 6:20AM and arrived back here at 9:20PM... What a long day! We kept having to stop for gas because the V6 Tundra got a record low 8 mpg on the way there with the empty trailer, and a slightly better 9.6 mpg when we kept the overdrive off, whether the car was on the trailer or not. It was a fun and exciting ride, though, and we're thrilled with the car. That little book with all of the fuel and repairs is amazing. I've been driving all weekend, and drove it to work this morning. As soon as I get my vaccuum pumped fixed, though, it's back to the '85. This fine 240D needs to stay in Dad's garage.
Did someone call this car Nelliebelle? I asked Chris where that came from and he said he didn't know. He said his wife, a yoga instructor, called it the Zen Benz because it curbed his usual aggressive, road-rage driving style. Ahh... the inner peace of the little diesel.
