I am probably going to put my SD up for sale. It is an '84 with 201,xxx miles, in brilliant silver and blue MB-tex.

It has an Alpine in-dash CD head unit (detachable face plate) and an Alpine trunk mounted CD changer.

Condition? I'm copying this from a previous thread in the Diesel discussion forum...

What it needs:

More major stuff...

1. Check timing chain stretch; probably replace soon because it was at 3 deg a couple years ago and economy has dropped a few mpg
2. Fix AC so it blows cold air again. Also the heat is intermittent, as well as the fan motor.
3. Fix or replace seats (broken cushions, sagging springs)
4. Overhaul tranny (Mobil 1 ATF has made this much better however, so I'm stalling on this one)
5. Locate and stop water leak into trunk (suspect rear window seal)
6. Runs a bit over 90 degrees C ...

"Minor" things:
1. Seat memory doesn't work
2. Alarm system doesn't work (maybe related to #3 below)
3. Driver's door is keyed differently from ignition
4. Chrome piece missing on left rear wheel molding (see photo below)
5. Trunk light doesn't work (stays on, draining battery)
6. No illumination on blower motor speed pushbuttons (Maybe related to "Major #2" above)
7. No illumination on outside temp guage
8. Clock doesn't work
9. Hood pad gone
10. Car could use a total repainting job; clearcoat is peeling at corners of hood (probably related to #9 above), as well as a few little dings; my car was very likely repainted at least once, and the lower moldings are smoke silver instead of dark grey
11. Cracked driver's side foglight lens
12. one wheel needs to be refinished (opposite side from what is visible in the photo below)
13. Lug bolts are beginning to rust
14. Replace at least one missing screw in headlight assembly
15. Vanity mirror coming loose from driver's side sunvisor
16. Rear speakers sound weak
17. one latch broken on first aid kit lid
18. vinyl sheeting coming off around passenger side seatbelt retractor on B pillar
19. some wood trim is coming loose (one piece on dash, really)
20. the "T" in the "TURBODIESEL" logo is a bit bent, presumably from towels catching it at car washes
21. the outside air temperature sensor came loose when I removed the front license plate frame; temp fix with a paper clip has held 3 years but isn't right
22. Fuel guage inaccurate below 1/4-1/2 tank or so
23. Missing plug in undercarriage after AAA tow (starter died); I have the plug but never replaced it yet
24. One lug bolt is shorter (what my indy had and gave me N/C) than the others after one mysteriously disappeared

I'd like to get about $4500 for it, but would probably knock off a $1000 or so if I pulled the Alpine sound system and replaced it with the original Becker. Price is probably negotiable, but MB's do get a pretty good $$$ in this part of PA, especially ones that have no rust.

EDITED: I'm going to reduce the asking price to $3900, and for that $$$$ I'd leave the head unit and changer in the car.

Price is negotiable; I'm trying to be as honest as possible about the condition. I've owned the car for about 3 1/2 years, and I just feel like a newer MB...

Very nice car, I;ve seen it at NJ diesel meets, and Bob is a good guy.

This will be a good car for the lucky buyer.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, JCD! I'm selling this and the wife's old Subaru to make room for a 300TE which I hope to pick up later this week. Hopefully I can still come to the diesel meets

Also, my price is negotiable; I'd rather sell it to someone on this website than to a stranger on Ebay who might not take good care of it...

The SD went to $1425; reserve was $2650.

The Subaru went to $1825; reserve was $3K.

I still have this car for sale, anyone interested in a good honest SD with a lot of miles left to her?
My wife won't let me park it in the driveway since we got it repaved, so it's becoming an orphan.
Please help find a good home for my faithful friend

It might need a battery soon but she's otherwise good to go.
$1850 sound reasonable?

Breckman, I'm not really into shipping cars, since I have never done it.
Economical shipping I think would cost around $900-$1000 from PA to CO. Cheaper would be to fly here and drive her back. ($100 plane ticket + 2200 miles/22 mpg [ballpark] or 100 gallons or so of diesel and a plane ticket) $250-$300 vs $900-$1000... your call. That way you could look at the car prior to paying for it, too.
PPI would be welcome, at your expense. Local shops include Star Service Center 610-437-3374 (independent, familiar with the car) and Knopf Automotive (local dealer) 610-439-1555.
Car was purchased and dealer serviced at R&S Automotive (MB dealership) in Huntington Valley, PA.
I'd really like to sell the SD before winter.
Cheap offers won't insult me, because I'm paying $50 a month for the insurance, and could use the parking / driveway space.
