Not that I noticed. I can ask him next time I see him. I'll keep my eyes open for a nice SL. Is there any particular year you're interested in?

Gotcha, Jay. My neighbor was selling an '84 280SL euro, but that was over the summer, and I think he wanted around $12K for it.

Why are you selling your 300D so cheap?

Bob,
The teal 300TE sounds nice. Did you have to pay much for it? I would like to get a wagon some day.

Two reasons. One- the timing chain broke; took out the cam, cam towers' and a few valves. Two- I no longer drive to Jersey to work. I now only drive 6 miles round trip. I'm pulling into the driveway before my truck is getting warm. That would kill a diesel.

Jay, I hear you with the short trip issue. My drive to work is less than 4 miles, and on cold days, the SD barely warms up.

I paid $7700 for the TE, a bit high, but I liked the color of both the teal blue paint and the cream beige / parchment (?) MB Tex interior.

It did a 1200 mile drive home no problem, averaging about 23 mpg or so at 75-80 mph.

Also Jay, have you ever checked Walter's Foreign Car on Pembroke Rd in Bethlehem?

He always seems to have about a dozen MB's parked outside in his fenced yard; I just never seem to get there when he's open.

He has the most 108, 114, 115 and 116 era cars of anyone in the area that I've seen. I'm sure he gets SL's in occasionally.

I never dealt with him for service, so I don't know how he is; I'm just going by the drive-by

Do you look at cars.com? They find a lot of local cars that are in area newspapers.

$7700 sounds like a good price especially if it was in decent shape. I saw a 300SE in Teal last summer and I agree it is a beautiful color. Good luck with it.

brooktre, I'm spending about $3300 on things that the car needed right away, so I've got about $11K in the car so far. We shall see how reliable my first gas Benz in the new millenium will be.

After 3 diesels, I'm going have to start buying gasoline again. I do hope to take it to one of the diesel meets, unless I still have the SD; then maybe I'll flip a coin as to which car to take out
