I have this 81 500 se for sale and would accept $2800.

There are one or two trivial rust spots on the car but they don't devalue this car at all.

I repaired a mans 91 500sl (ACevaporator,@dealer,$3800) and he couldnt pay. I now happily own this 81 500se as a trade on repairs.

The car is a pocket rocket, She is European and has none of that egr stuff that chokes the engine, She fired right up when I put battery cables on it. She screeched tires when I accelerated out of the drive, and the engine fires on all 8 cylinders without a miss.
She idles very smooth and there are zero of those pesky lifter noises.

She has the adjustable idle speed valve,.. that is a blessing to anyone that has owned a later 126 model. The Idle speed is controlled by either two electric units, a IS control unit, or a valve.
These are not on this car (by factory) and right there you can save $700 in replacing them. If and when they do go bad on other models, the idle speed shoots up to 1000-1800 rpm, and theres nothing you can do to lower it, without replacing one or both items. You can always put it in gear, but that very quickly costs you a differential. These headaches are not on this car.

Another gift from heaven is that it has had the rear hydraulic shocks changed over to regular ones. You will never experience major repairs there. and you will get better gas milage from the car driving level to the ground instead of appearing to be low and dragging.

She has a instant electric heater, not sure if it works, the only thing I noticed about the car that I would share as a discovery of possible repairs, is/are:

The power steering whines- could just be low or a leak.
There was a clunk for a second or two as i cruised, One dead cat or a central support bearing.
A small exhaust leak.
I think one of the rear electric windows didnt work, has sliding rear seats!

I cannot offer any service records, the milage is 212K

The transmission appears to shift fine but i didnt manage to drive her too long without the fear on getting caught without tags.

The prevoius owner was using it daily and simply parked her in 99'

The car is very clean on the inside and comes with a factory phone and I believe sony cd in the trunk.

The drivers seat is worn from getting in and out, normal with her age. It has power seats, wich is rare for a european, the interior is a 95, power windows, and a working AC.

This is because I was driving My own 500Sel and for reasons unknown to me, and I fear the worst, it overheats badly within 45 mins. It is sad it decided to do this too me as I had just spent $2000 on prepping the car for a fresh coat of paint.(I still have the paint). (I had new tires put on the rims, fresh tie rods, shock, and drag link< 750 miles). I am prepared to offer this additional car as a parts car for a fee. The chrome is perfect all arroud and it has the European bumpers, but not headlights. Blue on velor blue, very acceptable condition. Looks funny because half is in yellow primer.

Between the two cars you will have a spare transmission, radiator, rear lens's, grill, dash, window regulators, all glass, starter, altenator, compressors, powersteering boxes,and more.

I cannot supply a photo of the parts car with this listing but will do, privatley.

Consider my offer of $3500 for both.
