Help in Cincinnati...
Hi, I found a car in Cincinnati and I was wondering if somebody could go check it out for me. I've been talking to the dealer and I'd like a third-party opinion before making any decisions.
The car is a 1987 grey market 300E 5-speed located at Import Auto Xchange. Has anybody looked at this car before? Any opinions? This car will hopefully be used for around-town driving and moderate highway usage. If you can help me out please email me or respond. Thanks for your time Peter 1988 420SEL 1988 300E

I used to work really close to that place two summers ago and used to stop by there on occasion to see what they had on the lot. At that time I did see a car exactly like what you are describing to me. I was intrigued, as I had thought it would make a great car for the wife. IF this is the same one (a big IF, but how many can there be at one dealer's lot?) then it has some issues. If I recall correctly, it was pearl black with a black tex interior. Manual AC. Power windows up front, but manual in back. Rusty jackpoints. Bad respray. A definite EURO, but had seen better days. At the time they were asking like $7995 or so, which was too high. What you are describing may be the same car. Email me and I might be able to get over there on Monday or Tuesday of next week to check it out during my lunch break. Ditmire in NJ has two.....
Funny, I found same car "on the hunt".
When I saw, asking price was in the 5-6K range, and I would suspect issues at that price point. Hey, I bet your scopin out the e28/535i/5spd in your area and finding they are 1/2 the price of the 300es... back to 300e.... Check out these guys - they have two 300e 5spd, both just shy the $7K mark.
