Greetings All,

I have finally decided to divest my E500 and am entertaining offers. While it breaks my heart, we are moving to Long Island, NY. I don't forsee being able to use it much, given the roads in the NYC area so there is no point keeping it the garage.

Some background:
The vehicle is one-of- a kind and as rare as the E500 Limited. I am the third owner. The original owner was a Chicago Bulls basketball pro and second, the grandson of the former Texas oil billionaire, who was married to Anna Nicole Smith. The vehicle was special ordered in 040 Black, which otherwise was not available for the E500 (have 1994 E class colour brochure to prove). Interior is black as are the body cladding panels. The vehicle is absoutely gorgeous and has been pampered. I bought in September 2000, with 48k miles. It now as 58k miles and only recently came off Mercedes-Benz Starmark.

Under Starmark, the car has had replaced (not because of failure, but because I am anal and persuaded the dealer service manager to replace any component that was anything near the grey area between full operation and failure) among others,

Motor mounts
Front shocks and control arm bushings
Rear hydropneumatic shocks and accumulators
Front and rear sway bar bushings

I also just had an alignment done and the car performs beautifully.

I have all the service records from work performed during my ownership.
I understand that there is considerable variability in price of these vehicles. Considering condition and rarity (have you ever seen an 040 E500?) I am seeking in the region of $44,800.

The vehicle will be delivered completely stock and is located in Bryn Mawr, just outside Philly.

Purely cosmetic paintwork on front bumper where paint takes a beating.

car has 58.1k miles. Hence 60k mile service would be deferred to 60k miles.

Please provide email address and will be happy to provide pics. Can also provide reference contact info for service manager at MB dealer where I had the car serviced. He knows the vehicle well since there no others alike...

A 500E or E500 in plain 040 black is very, very rare.

...a medical doctor I met was driving his '94 E500 in factory black on black in downtown San Francisco. I complimented him on the car and chatted further...

He indicated he was 2nd owner and that the car was special ordered from the factory in that color
