6.9 Wanted!
I am looking to buy a 450 SEL 6.9 in the near future. I am seeking somewhat of a "project" which I could restore exactly how I want it. Ideally, something with a solid drivetrain that is not a rust-bucket would be great. If anyone knows where something like this could be found, let me know. I would like to keep the initial purchase price under $4000. Thanks-

Just for fun I looked to see what was available last night. Found about 2 dozen. All price ranges. Look on autrader.com and cars.com. Just remember to select 1982 and older on cars.com and the collector car page on autotrader.com. Wish I was gonna be out west soon. There were some nice ones for under $4k.

6.9 SEL
I spotted one in the driveway of a local auto mach. shop with a for sale sign on the window. Just driving by, the body looks good, paint is faded, but it is sitting evenly, so perhaps their are no suspension problems. Phone # is 650 369-7200. Location is in Redwood City CA.(SF bay area). i may just have what you are looking for. a 1977 us 6.9 metallic blue 158,000 miles so california car, suspension stays up, a/c works, no rust very dependable car. just a little advise here, this is not the type of car you want to find as a fixer upper. buy a solid car and you will enjoy it more. e-mail me for more details

I saw a dark blue 6.9 here in South Salem, Oregon. I don't know the price, but I drive by it frequently and could get some info if needed. Its a super nice looking car, with Euro headlights and chrome Bundt Cake rims.

AGREED! Spend $6K-$8K now and save yourself much angst and coin. A tremndous car to pilot. A terror to mess with.

6.9 found
This weekend I picked up a '78 6.9 euro model. 139k miles, faded paint, okay int, solid engine with a rebuilt trans. Also an original AMG body kit (rare?) all for just over $5k. I drove it back from SoCal with no problems (or speeding tickets). Boy are these fast! I'll post some pics soon. Thanks for the advice/help!
