1981 300td $2900

I have no connection with this car, I just saw it on the street and it is gorgeous.

From the sign in the window:
141,000 miles
3rd row seat
Cold AC
New battery
All records
727-643-7689

My observations:
Located in St. Petersburg, Florida
Lemon Yellow over Palomino
Dark tinted windows
Manual Sunroof
Sits level
Appears to be a fairly recent repaint.
Body in excellent condition- no rust even at the jack points, tiny amount of surface rust around a small ding in the left rear quarter, all lower quarter panels were solid.
Interior in very good condition – seat springs appeared good, small patch of just the very top layer of MB Tex missing from driver's seat left bolster (fabric underneath still good), I did not see any cracks in the dash, dark windows prevented a good look at the wood.

I'll snap a picture if it's still there next week. At this price, odds are it won't.

Some more observations:

The windshield seal looks pretty dry and has a few cracks
The radio antenna is extended
There's a small amount of rust showing at the lower right corner of the rear window
The dashboard does have a few small cracks
The wood appears pretty good, although the piece on the console (below shifter) is black plastic like that found in my 240D, not wood. Don't know if that was standard for 1981.

I believe that color is "Butterscotch Yellow"(?)

My second favorite MBZ color. Too bad interesting colors aren't offered these days.

Nice car. Mike

Mike is my brother. For some reason, people always call me by his name.

hpipe.

You want to know if we have any other questions? How about .....

- A 1981 model is a non-turbo, correcct?
- How long have you owned it?
- Why are you selling?
- Do you have all the receipts for all the scheduled services?
- Do you have all the receipts for all the fixes and repairs?
- Has the car ever been repainted?
- Has the car ever been professionally "restored"?
- What major repairs or rebuilds have been done and when?
- On a scale from 1 (poor) to 10 (perfect), could you please rate the:
interior
exterior trim
exterior paint
rust situation
glass
engine
transmission
ignition
exhaust
suspension
electronics
controls/levers/buttons
lights
overall reliability as a daily driver

(You can simply copy/paste from this post into your reply to save typing.)

Many thanks!

It is a Turbodiesel. He's had it a couple of weeks - I noticed it as soon as it showed up here. I'll let Harry answer the rest of the questions.

Would you by chance be interested in donating the car to a non-profit organization for a tax deduction equal to the vehicle's value?

While a 15 seater van would be ideal, that wagon would make a great transporter for my Scout crew (when we're not cruising the boat )...heck, I'd be interested personally, except as bad as I want a wagon, I'm not sure if I'm ready to let go of my '85 just yet...
