FS (feeler): 1984 300TD
Well, I *might* just have to part with my girl... I just have not had the time I thought I would to work on my 1984 TD. This wagon has some rust issues on the body, but starts and runs quite well. Immediate issued that will need addressed: hatch was VERY rusty, so I found a better one in FL and started to grind surface rust off it to POR-15 and paint it; thus, the car will need this finished and installed. The throttle linkage is also goofy; it needs adjusted out so the car will have the power it's supposed to have. Starts VERY easily for a diesel. Battery is a bit dodgy, though. Rust on rockers near jacking points, some on pass rear wheel arch, and significant rust on driver's rear arch just aft of the rear door. Interior is pretty dedent for the age. Power windows work, but driver's rear is a bit slow. Manual sunroof slides fine and does not leak.
The car really doesn't need much to be a solid, daily driver (and with the hatch installed could be driven daily as-is around town; the throttle linkage just limits the highway speeds a bit). I would like to recover my investments so far, which figure to be at about $1100 probably. I think that's a pretty good price for a driving wagon with lots of potential. Any less and I'll probably hold on to her for a possible summer project. Mileage is at 165K or so, and the previous owner had the transmission rebuilt at a place in Chicago (receipt is in glove box). Car is in Charleston, IL. Please let me know if you would like more info. I would like to find a good home for her where she'll get the attention she deserves. Email cscmc1@nospameiu.edu (remove nospam). Thanks! Chris
