Due a number of recent events, I find myself in an unfortunate position where I need to sell my beloved 1980 300TD (non-turbo wagon). I wanted to offer her up here first before I sacrificed her to the ebay gods. I am the second owner. She is Ivory w/ tan MB Tex and she got a new long block (complete engine w/ all the fixin's) from Mercedes in 1995. The odometer quit right around the time the new engine was put in @ 140,000mi. She was sitting for about three years when I purchased her, (the original owner died and her husband held on to the car because she had loved it) and we estimate the miles on the new motor to be around 60-70,000. She acts like a brand new car, firing off W/O Glowing the plugs at all if it is above 35 deg, and more pick-up than my turbo SD. I have replaced tons of parts (master cylinder, rear window wiper, new headlight assemblies) as did the first owner, so most everything works. The interior is near perfect, including the third seat. The exterior has a bit of surface rust in the common places, but is better than most. The last owner and myself have been addressing the problems areas as they come up so it's not as bad as it could be.
With a tiny bit of body work and maybe a fresh coat of paint, you could have one of the nicest classic wagons left, or she's the perfect never-fail-beautiful-daily-driver!
