In terms of bang for the buck?
Get TWO cars:

- a 190D 2.5
- a 560sec

Both have style, performance, class and together will hit the price you want.

Insist on buying only one? Make it a 6.3 or a 6.9 depending on your choice of style. However, you won't get anything resembling good milage from either one.

$10,000 would get you, a '92-'93 400E / '94-'95 E420, or a '93 300E (3.2) / '94-'95 E320.

I would say a 1992 400E or a really used and abused 1995 C36.

No question about it - A 400E is a great high performance used car buy, 10K would get you a nice example. I've never heard of anybody that has driven or bought one that was not satisfied.

Of course that might change if you drive a 500E first...

A 400E would probably get between 18 and 23 mpg.

Sparc, my '95 E420 w/116.5k miles on it gets about 20mpg when driven mixed, but mostly highway, at an average speed between 70mph and 80mph.

Well, you could always look at the wagon I'm sitting on, add a 50 shot of NOS, high flow exhaust and 500E sway bars and have a ball. Nothin worse than blowing the doors off a ricer in a wagon.

HIGH PERF M/B

BEST BET IS GOOD 92-93 400E...MINE GETS 20MPG IN TOWN AND 27 ON HIGHWAY AT 70MPH...THESE ARE GREAT, FAST CARS. THERE ARE A FEW ISSUES LIKE WIRE HARNESSES THAT DEGENERATE BUT BY NOW ANY ONE YOU FIND WOULD HAVE HAD THAT PROBLEM FIXED. MY DAUGHTER HAS A 92 400E BLK WITH GRAY LEATHER, EXTREMELY NICE WITH 129K MILES FOR $6,000 AS SHE WENT TO A 2 DOOR COUPE 300CE. SHE STILL LIKES PERFORMANCE OF HER 400E AS BEST THOUGH.

He already posted it another thread.

I don't remember which thread it was, but I saw it last night.

Do a search for posts under his name. Should be easy to find.
