Unhappy 1984 300TD for parts..... (sigh)

Hello,

My mom's 84 300TD was just recently destroyed by a young driver with no license. Mom was driving around a corner, and suddenly a Honda Civic was coming sideways straight into her. The results can be seen below.....
Luckily, neither she or the other driver were injured other than bruises. The tank-like 123 did its job well!

This was a super-nice car she bought in 1998 and I refurbished for her. It had 150,000 when purchased and ran like a top. It now has 221,000 on it now and runs like new still (just doesn't drive quite the same!!).

I am parting it out and would like to hear some requests. The engine and transmission are spoken for although I would entertain an offer ($900?) for the whole car, drivetrain included. Otherwise, I will dismantle it next weekend and sell it piece by piece.

The upholstery is outstanding as are various other interior parts and 3 of the door panels (guess which one is not so hot!). The tailgate is perfect as are the doors on the passenger side. This car was sold new in SC and has not left the Carolinas since. Had a complete new A/C system as well as tons of other newer parts including the rear hydraulic shocks and nitrogen spheres.

Thanks for looking and please e-mail at mkallas@nc.rr.com .

Klaus

Oooo... I'm glad your mother is OK!

I'm very sad about the car though... I'm just envisioning someone plowing into my TD and destroying it like that.. Scary.

I hope insurance is doing well for you, though an unlicensed driver causing accidents probably doesn't have much in the way of insurance... Good luck with it all.

Your TD has the same interior color as mine.. I'll PM you a list of some things I'm looking for. Hopefully they can live on in a new home.

peace,
sam

Sure the trans is spoken for? I'm pretty local, and I work at a local salvage yard, I can get you deals on stuff.

Sorry about the car though, god that just makes one sick.

Will your mother replace it?

/edit/ did the cruise work correctly, how much for the amp?

I am in the medical field so I am not making light of this, but it really does feel good knowing that parts can "live on" in another MB. Just like human donors. I am amazed at how many cars I see "junked" knowing that there are parts that can be donated or recycled.
Good Luck, I have a 300SD (84) and my ash tray bracket is broke, not sure it will be the same, but will investigate.
Thanks

What a shame I have an 85 TD with 182 K on it and I love that car. I am glad that your Mom is OK. I hate to be a vulture but I would be interested in the wheels they all look intact.

They do look like great wheels. I've got 7 spoke 16" wheels off a '99 CLK on my wagon, and they look really sharp. Big silver wheels on a big silver wagon. Very appropriate. They make the car look like a new car.

I'm a big fan of not 'wasting' manufactured items by just scrapping them. My friend has organ donor corneas, and I want organ donor wood trim and taillights.

peace,
sam

Hello all!

Thanks for all the replies! I'm sorry to be tardy about answering, but I'm on the road during the week and have to type when I can.

I've been getting many requests and will answer with prices or problems on the most requested parts:

Wheels and tires: Only 3 are good, they are aftermarket, polished, 15" 8- holes with 215/60 15 Bridgestone Touranza's (70% tread). I assume you could buy another and have it look good still. They are at least 6 years old (wheels).
How about $125 if you can pick them up here, or will work on shipping.

Tailgate: Rust-free and beautiful! Will include all trim and wiper. $150 you pick up.

Rear struts: $60 pair, shipping included

Seats: Beautiful! $50 each for front, $70 for rear , No 3rd seat. You pick Up!

Rear bumper: It's from a sedan with halogen lights installed underneath. Looked good and worked great but not original wagon stuff.

Taillights: $40 piece/ shipping included.

Dash: No good! Cluster is good, but glass popped out and will need regluing. $30/shipped for cluster.

Antenna: Used for another car.

Roof cross bars: The ones that span the roof rack and always seem to disappear! $45/shipped

Lots of other stuff! Please keep asking and let me know on these items!

Klaus

P.S. My ebay user name is "k.mojo" if you want to view feedback on my buying/selling transactions. I'd like to sell these parts to fellow members here before throwing them into the auction ring. Thanks again!

wolfwalker-

The transmisson shifts like a dream. If I were to sell it I would need $275 for it. I know that may sound high, but it is worth it to me to keep it otherwise. Let me know...

As for replacement - She got a (gasp) '96 Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor. I know, I know, but it is a super nice ex-fire chief car and my step-dad works for Ford so guess who gets to work on it!!

Only one fog light left, and would prefer to sell it with the passenger side headlight assembly.

Thanks!

Thanks guys!

So far the rear suspension, passenger seat, trunk lid, roof rails, wheels and transmission have been spoken for.

Keep those requests coming!
