Too bad, I was really looking for the non-crystal clear smoked tails. I am a graphic designer so these tail lights would have to be paired with crystal clear headlights and since their isn't a set out there that doesn't make the car look like **** it doesn't seem like I will interested. =\

tail lights review!

so i got my tail lights and installed them... here's a quick review. ill post photos when i get the chance.

when i pulled them out of the box i was a little disappointed. the lenses are very crystal clear - i thought there would be at least some etched pattern in the lens to refract the light. but there wasn't.

once i installed them, i was stunned at how good they looked. they really blend nicely with the car and don't feel like aftermarket car tuner style lights. then i decided to see how the light out put was... all my disappointment about the lack of a lens pattern to refract the light quickly faded. each bulb is surrounded by a plastic reflector that does a nice job refracting. the light output is brighter, sharper, and more lucid.

while im sure they aren't up to the same quality standards as OEM, there really is no perceptable quality difference. im very pleased. how does everyone else who bought a set feel?

If you change to the amber bulbs like Peyton, they are very likely legal.

Not unless there is a DOT approval on the lense, it is that simple.

I have had enough Volkswagon's with tons of aftermarket parts enough to know that Jeff is 100% correct. Unless it is DOT it is not legal; this means going to the DMV to pass inspection will yield a fail sticker here in New Jersey. Maybe not in some other states but it sure wouldn't fly here. Trust me on that one.

By the way I can not see the photos all I see is an error message with a white background. Can you send me an e-mail with the photos?

Frank

any updates bout these items? mounted picts?

I've got a dark green (malachite) '95 wagon and think these smoked lenses wouldn't look that bad. One of my lenses is cracked so i have to replace it anyways. I wish it was possible to get OEM Bosch clears, but I've never been able to find them and I'm sure they would be stupid expensive anyways.

not that they check here in GA, but just to be clear, they are not DOT market - correct?

How are the reflectors and rear side markers?

Wow! I want that look for Belle. Is that a UR quattro in the tailgate reflection? I'll take that too.

Thats a Lancia.

Anyways, I have also been shopping for a set of MHW tails like Frank has.. They pop up occasionally, and usually are in the neighborhood of $350-500. Last set I saw sold for approximately $400, and were MINT.

BTW - Anyone interested in an AMG W124T bodykit?
