looking for head for OM603 engine
I have a new project, an '87 300d with a cracked head. Low cost is key factor.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a head from a 350SDL will also fit except the injectors are fitted at a different angle and the glow plugs might be different ? A #22 head would be a most desireable but open to anything except a rewelded head. Got any? PM me if you know of something, Thanks in advance

I believe the 350 cylinder heads have to be remachined because something having to do with the prechambers. That is of course if I understood correctly. It can be done and shouldn't be too much of a chore given that the person knows what they're doing.
Thanks David

Yes, I am aware of this issue. There are heads that have a lip on the opening where the PC lies, and it prevents the chamber from bottoming. I believe they are aftermarlet heads (with or without the star cast in them!) anyhow my head machinist is capable of milling them open as necessary. I am looking for the '91 head without the angled injectors, I believe it is a #17 head, lacking that a 603.960 head w/ #17 or later . . . still looking!
Too bad I didn't buy a local 350SDL that threw a rod. It was a nice clean car with a dead engine for $1200. Pity I didn't know I'd need a 6 cyl head someday
