88 190E 2.3, motor blown, in Montana

OK, this is a long shot, but here goes:

My son was driving his 190e 2.3 from Seattle to Chicago. He stopped for gas, added some oil, and forgot to replace the oil cap. The car made it about 60 miles before all the oil blew out and wrecked the engine. It's sitting at a shop in Bozeman and needs to go asap (it's been there a couple weeks). I did quite a bit of work just prior to the trip getting it road-ready (I'm an professional auto tech in Seattle). It was a great little Benz and I hate to let it go, but it doesn't make $ense to try do the repairs long distance.

I thought I'd put it up here on the forum as a last ditch effort to try and get it to someone in the Bozeman area who could use the parts. Otherwise I'll be negotiating with the shop owner in the next few days to have the car scrapped. Bummer.

I'd like to get $500, but at this point I'm wide open to offers.

190 E in Bozo

Mark,

I'm in Livingston, 25 miles east of Boze. I don't need the 190 but would be willing to help move, store, whatever, if I can.

Thanks for that generous offer, Kimball. Seems like there must be somebody in the area that could use some good 190 parts. I hate to stick someone with a dead hulk, but if you want to get it, it's at Keyser Auto. I'm kind of over thinking I'm going to get much $ for it.

Are you or the garage interested in parting it out if this car is still available?

Dub - I'm not sure that it's still at the shop. I should hear from them today. They needed the space and were going to have a scrapper haul it out if I was unable to find a buyer.
