Parting Out 1983 300SD - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I will be picking up a 1983 300SD tomorrow and will begin parting it out. The car was rear ended so the back is crunched. The engine starts and the car runs, but the rear axle is badly damaged. The car was converted for veggie oil, but the conversion kit was not included with the car. The transmission is a rebuilt 85 300TD. I will not sell the transmissio until I have the one on my 84 300SD running perfect. (so any help would be appreciated, flaring 3-4 shift) I don't know the mileage on the transmission or motor yet. The car is brown and either tan or palamino interior. I have not seen the interior yet, but the seller described it as "fair".

I plan to start putting parts up on ebay in mid November. I don't have a lot of time to start stripping now, but let me know what you are interested in and I'll check out the parts for you and do what I can. I do know there is no radio and 3 of the electric windows work. The "hit" was in the left rear so the chance of right side tails lights being good is remote.

The car is located in West Sacramento, CA.

I would prefer to leave on enough to be able to roll this onto a trailer when I'm done, unless someone knows how I can get it to the junkyard otherwise.

The odometer show 169K on the car. The damage is contained to the left rear corner panel. The climate control switch works. All four electric window motors work. The sun roof works. The engine runs, but it "ticks" a little more than mine. The seats look much better than I expected. I didn't notice any rips and the front seats don't sway to one side (like my driver's seat). The seats a dirty and I'll have to see how they clean up. I don't think there is any way to get the stains out of the carpet. A lot of the wood grain has been stripped off.

Parts anyone?

Thanks to the guidance and wisdom of Brian Carlton and Sammuel J Ross, I have the transmission on my 84 working great. That means the rebuilt transmission on this car will be available. I will not have time to work on it until mid-late November. The previous owner stated the transmission had about 12K miles on it.

2) door lock vacuum pump

Sorry about the delay in responding. I just got back in town. I will respond Monday evening.

I have wood console near gear shift. The seats need some clean up and I don't see any rips. The console is starting to crack on each end.

I'll let the tranny go for $500 obo

I need the center carrier bearing nut plates from the driveline. I lost mine on the car dolly on a trip accross the US. Should be able to ship them in the mail in an envelope.

is the interior mb tex or leather? would you be interested in trading?
hows the drivers seat?
how about the glove box door with wood?
front loor mats? ( not carpet but the mats)?
sunroof, hazard, rear defrost and window switches/
i also need the rear map light molding. im not quite sure what they are called but if you could take a picture i can show you.

I could use the interior light module (the one above the rearview)

as well as a cruise amp, tach amp and the sliding jaw for the rear passenger window.

I need the front face plate (I think that is what it' called) and driver's side bracket. This is the part under the front bumper trim piece - theone that actually protects the vehicle. Mine has fron right damage I'd like to properly repair.) I'm also interested inthe console wood. Price? Condition?

There is an oil cooler, I just need to find it and look at the condition. There is a dent in the one door in which someone was interested
