I have a camchain tool for a 190e with the jaw inserts for a single row timimg chain, as well as the tool for checking play of hydraulic valve lifters on the 8V engine (determines need for different thickness shims to go with hydraulic element - MB part no. 102 589 04 21 00). I am willing to let these go for $200.00 and $125.00 Canadian respectively. I am open to offers, however. These are not inexpensive tools from MB. I also have an exhaust manifold for the 190e 8V (cheap). Email me at aobca@magma.ca.

That didn't quite come across the way I intended. I meant to say these are Mercedes tools and are not cheap from the dealer. I am quite open to ofers as these are useless to me now that I don't own the car any more.

I also have a brand new 268 sport cam for the 190e 8V (from Bekkers - never installed) that I would sell for approx $100US (again, I am open to an offer)

Oh heck, just pay the postage for the tools, and they're yours (please, legitimate hobbyists only).

Hey! These might be the first tools in the MercedesShop tool co-operative. You send them to someone who needs them. He sends them on to someone else later. On and on.

On another topic: what is the story on the camshaft? Does it make the 190-8v rock? It won't fit my 560, but I am looking for a second MB and had all but rejected the 190 due to power. It is also a little smaller than my 560.

Vaughn, Parker, CO, but soon to be in Duncan, B.C.
Worked a brief 6 month assignment at Fermi II nuclear power plant in Michigan.

The cam is supposed to be relatively mild. No interference problems with the valves. It is supposed to be good for 25ish horses. It is a big improvment to the 130 or so stock from what I can gather. The fuel injection system can cope with no adjustments. The cam is what I got the clearance service tool for. Never used either. The tool came misaligned. I couldn't get a dial gauge to run through it without interference. The mount for the gauge was simply misaligned. Needless to say I broke it off trying a gentle realign. Out came the MIG welder and my die grinder. It now is perfect but doesn't quite look as pretty as new. As for the cooperative tools; Great idea. I would happily send them on to someone who needs them. As long as we could ensure the tools don't later end up on e-bay. The cam chain tool is unused, and just needs a different insert to use it on the later double roller chains.

Many apologies for the old email. My father still uses my old ISP account and he had your email to the ISP forwarded to him. I will update my forum email address forthwith.

As for the parts, I'm afraid they are all long gone. I traded the 190e back in '01 so I got rid of all the parts and service tools I had. My new C230K and my C36 have been completely trouble-free in the last year, so I haven't been here much.
