desperate need for ONE eight-hole wheel
Hi all. Just bought four eight-holers from another forum member. Unfortunately, DHL lost a 45 pound wheel and tire somewhere between Madison, WI and my home in central Ohio
Now, I have three wheels which do me no good at all. I expect my chances of finding a single unmolested replacement are nil. Wheels I did receive are from a 124 500E, thus 16". Not sure of the width and offset, will look later today and post numbers. I do not know if 15" eight holes were made. Hope someone can help. Thanx.

oh yeah, DHL will pay, but the insured value was $75 per wheel/tire combo. I would expect a replacement new wheel to cost $200 or so. That does not even account for the one-year-old Dunlop Grasspic.
The claim has to be filed by the seller. I am toying with idea of seeing if he will assign me his rights so I can vigorously work on DHL to compensate me for the whole insurance coverage of $300 since the practical effect of them losing one has destroyed the usefulness of the three they did manage to deliver. It is the same as if they lost all four, thus pay the full insurance amount. BTW, numbers off the rim are: "8Jx16H2" with "FT 34" below it Thanx

You know that's a shame on the shipping. Fedex defaults to $100 per package with additional available...and it really isn't that much more. All of the 6 sets or so I've shipped have arrived safely and complete.
Here's a CHEAP option: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCEDES-300E-400-S-500-600-16-FACTORY-WHEEL-RIM-SET_W0QQitemZ260189110118QQihZ016QQcategoryZ43956QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem They're the right size...and you'd get a full-size spare...and still have 2 to resell.

update
in case anyone cares -- filed my claim with DHL. Amazingly, Dunlop/Goodyear tells me that the Graspic HS-2 is no longer available -- anywhere in the world!! Tirerack tells me the Graspic DS-2, in the exact same size, will be "incompatible" with the three HS-2s. Thus, because of DHL's negligence, I not only have just three rims (my cars all have four per vehicle,) but they are shod with utterly useless tires which had only one winter on them!
I filed my claim for $520 -- Four new Graspic DS-2 @ $95 each $40 shipping from Tirerack $100 to find another used 16 inch eight-hole wheel. I'm sure DHL will just laugh at me.

I know someone with a set of 500E/E500 wheels in really good condition if it comes to that. San Jose area.
Good luck fitting 500E wheels on a 'regular' W124 if that's your plan. Sixto 87 300D |

thanx for the tip sixto.
that is indeed my plan. lotsa research here and elsewhere indicates it is no problem, expecially only going with 16" diameter and 225 width and standard offset.

duty to update since I was pissing and moaning about DHL.
Thye cut a check for $150. I found a wheel for $100 and a used tire for $54 after shipping. I am OK with this.
