Question on w123 exterior trim...

Is all the stuff that looks like aluminum (along base of door glass on door), the strip that lines the top of the drip rail, etc actually aluminum? I've got a little time to clean out the 240D I'm parting (has holes rusted through the floor and a hole in the side of the block...BUT RUNS!) and figured if there was aluminum I'd pull it. Aluminum sells by the pound, while the whole car goes per 100lbs. so I figured I could make a few extra bucks and learn a bit more about the construction of the car in the process.

its an anodized aluminum

all of the stuff around the doors is a PITA to remove since it was basically the second thing installed on the door.

No, got sidetracked, but I did pull visors and a fan for Austin, the complete set of locks (not the ignition yet) for someone else and started pulling anything underdash and underhood that was labeled manual transmission and whatever it's connected to.

Figured I'd go ahead and yank the battery, starter and alternator while I was at it.

I'll be wrapping up before too long, but will be at it again tomorrow. Want to get the 240D to the scrapyard Monday morning and then go to town on the 280CE (not the Euro).
