Some of you have been asking me about E55K brakes on a w211. This is what I found:
Regarding fitment on w211: I did a little research on these E55K brakes going onto a w211 car. I searched the MBworld's w211 forum with search word "spindles" It seems like the E55K calipers use an M14 bolt, and therefore the E55k spindles are made with 14mm holes. Mark Cummings said that one could drill the spindle from 12mm to 14mm or buy the E55k spindles. Personally I would get the E55k spindles so you can return your car to stock if you so desire. Or at the very minimum, remove the spindles and have a machine shop enlarge the holes. If you do this with a drill and drill bit free hand, you will give too much slop. I would have the machine shop drill, and then ream to final size. That shouldnt take too long provided they can fixture the spindle. Any machinist with a bridgeport mill should be able to handle this task. Like I have said before, the burdent of fitment is totally on the buyer. Last edited by omegabenz; 07-22-2008 at 02:02 AM. |
