For Sale 1983 617 engine
I have available for sale a 1983 or 84 617 engine from a 123 sedan. All information here is second-hand, but I think it's pretty accurate. I have not seen this engine run, but it is represented as a good runner with about 140K miles. It came from a car with a ruined interior. (sunroof left open). It is complete less alternator and vacuum pump. It used the Air-Research turbo. The engine in my 123 is working perfectly (116K miles), so I don't anticipate a need for a spare. The engine is located in Syosset, Long Island, and I can assist with loading it.

Very good point, Jimmy. After taking another look at the engine today, I would hope $250 is not out of line. It still has the AC compressor(condition not known) the starter, cruise control actuator, fan, vacuum switching valve on the valve cover, and a look under the oil filler cap reveals a clean engine with a nice smooth camshaft.

That is a great price for that motor. If I was closer I would definitely jump on it! Oh well.....

This came from a 300D sedan. The engine is in a 40' container so pictures may be a little tough, but I'll give it a try

update on 617 engine for sale
I originally posted this in September of 08, and now have some more info concerning this engine. I removed the valve cover, and everything looks to be in fine condition. The index mark on the cam tower and timing gear line up exactly when the crankshaft is at TDC. It could probably use a valve adjustment. I have not attempted to run it, and probably won't, but all cylinders have compression when turned by hand. The DOM on the power steering pump is 6/82, so I would assume this to be a 1983 engine from a 123 sedan. It is now located in St. Thomas PA (near Chambersburg), and I have the means to load it. The asking price is $250. If you want pictures, let me know

another update on 617 engine for sale
In Jan. '09 I posted a 1983 617 engine for sale from a 123 sedan. At the time, I did not know its condition other than what I was told about it. Yesterday, I set it up and ran it, and I have a real good runner. It starts easily, runs smoothly, and has virtually no blowby. It includes the turbo, fan (six blade), a good water pump (no play) oil cooler lines, starter, and R4 compressor which appears to be serviceable. It does not include an alternator, air filter, or vacuum pump. It is locater in St. Thomas PA (near Chambersburg) about 15 minutes from I-81. I have the means to load it, and can demo it for a buyer. All it needs for a new home is a good cleaning and oil change-I already did the valves, and the injectors sound good to go just as they are. $500.00. Let me know if you have questions or want pictures. bobstoolsnrrr@yahoo.com.
