sure makes replacing that defrost pod a little easier. It looks like you could fab something that looks as good and xustom fit it to your monitor size

Looks like the whole dash and center console is needed.

judging from the appearance of the edges and the panels below it looks like it was not done by MB. they probably had Latka do it.

actually the one forced posted looks much better, maybe a MB option, but probably something only seen in Europe

the one I posted isn't MB I don't think. The center console looks kinda 115ish.

Example conversion...not a benz though.

I like the idea of a touch screen. A buddy has done that with his diesel 'burb and it's really slick. He mounted a laptop/docking station under the seat and ran the auto power on/off option to the unit...has tons of MP3's, gps, etc. on the system. It's quite slick indeed. Make sure you post loads of pics of the conversion. Below is a link to my pals conversion:

Enjoy!

That IS pretty slick - nice looking install too...nice and clean. Too bad it's all for naught, as he's running WinBlows on there.

Something like that might show up on one of the European eBay sites, especially Germany. What we need is a link to "Pick and Pull de Europe."

I did this to my excursion about 5 years ago. the vibes absolutely eat mother boards and touchscreens, at least then. also, clean consistent 12 volts is tough in a car. ground everything well and on short runs and look into a good power conditioner.

Winmutt,

You really have a taxi obsession going on. Didn't you ask me for a taxi sign for the roof a few years ago? (BTW, I got one, but I decided to keep it and put it into my wife's car, since she always gives me a ride home on "those" weekends ).

Here's the factory version of the taxi dash:

I sold my taxi, it had rear end damage that just wasn't worth fixing. I would really like an onboard computer for my car. Mostly for music/gps/map and tv for the kids. You can get some pretty decent 12v powered mini ITX boxes these days for not very much money.

I found a piece of my past. Can you identify me on this picture?

Here's a hint...
