WTB: Don't laugh, a "good" Solex 4A1 :)

Seriously, if anyone has one that was working reasonably well, or having some pretty normal carb problems, as in not warped an eigth inch and doing bizarre things to the primary circuit, I'd be interested. I think any off an M110 would work.
I'm trying to not spend any more than I have to before I get situated for a fuel injection swap is the reasoning here.

Thanks..

Those can be successfully rebuilt, and work perfect.
I do not understand why there are problems regarding those carbs,
Just another carburetor.

They are too large for the motor so the vacuum signal is marginal unless everything is in perfect order(and even then), and they seem to warp worse than a Quadrajet, which I thought prior to meeting the Solex was bad for warping. Also you can't plane the damn thing flat because of the way the top plate is made. What I'd like is a rebuildable one that is not warped. There was almost a 1/8th inch warp between the highest and lowest spot on mine. That's why people have such trouble with them. I've rebuild dozens of carbs and other than needing the occasional replacement of throttle shaft bushings that were sucking air, I've never seen one so finicky and picky and generally crappy as this one. The venturi on the primary side is a stone age design too, compounding the fact that a 2.8L engine other than at high RPM can't suck enough air to get them to meter correctly. It might be better on a v8, where a 700+cfm 4 barrel carb belongs.

I'm eventually going to fuel inject it, which is really the only logical thing to do in this day and age if one has the abilityand plans to drive the thing on a semi regular basis. I'd like to do it leasurly though, and be able to drive the darn thing in the meantime. It's not worth spending but so much on though, I already paid the astounding $50 for the seal kit for this solex.
