1990 124 300E Parts Car
Hello All,
Some of you may remember this car. It has been the subject of several repairs here on the forum, including the dreaded AC evaporator (working great after two years now!) Well, my son was hit from behind and the car is totaled. No injuries to son. But still, the sad loss of a good friend. Plenty of good parts in great shape, though! It runs and drives just fine. Anyone want to buy the whole thing? Any advice on what it's worth? Any parts you need? I'd really rather sell it whole but you never know.... http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz1.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz2.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz3.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz4.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz5.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz6.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz7.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz8.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz9.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz10.jpg http://tylersflash.com/brewer/Benz/Benz11.jpg |
Aw, c'mon! If you could do the evaporator, you can do that little bit of bodywork.
Actually, that is sad. I feel for you. |
I am glad your son did not get hurt, but I am sorry the car was totaled.
Such a nice looking car. In any event. I you decide to part it out let me know how much you want for the AC compressor (if it fits the 420 - my project car). I believe it is the Denso #10PA17C Those wheels look really good too. |
Also glad to hear your son made it out okay... looks like it was a pretty hard hit!
Where in AL are you? As a point of reference, I'm about an hour west of Tuscaloosa. If the car can be driven at all, I'm definitely interested in the whole thing. If not, can it at least move around the yard (my "working" spot currently has a project in it)? I'm pretty sure I can make arrangements to pick it up if it isn't drivable, but I won't be as interested then. |
Runs and drives just fine.

If you part it out, I could use the small panels below the headlights (and maybe the lights, too, for that matter). That's a nice car. The pics are hard to look at; glad your son is OK!

That is an excellent picture to illustrate crumple zones. All that damage and I bet you can still open the rear doors.;)
Glad the son is ok. I had two children rear ended in benzes, both suffered no or minor injuries, both cars were totalled and both cars I had repaired and put back in service. |

Wow. Such pristine condition :( Glad your kid is ok. Let us know what you decide to do there are some good parts on that car. What a shame :(

Man, those pictures really do hurt when you look at them. Glad your son was fine...a testimony to the w124. If you do part out the car, I'd have interest in the complete front windshield wiper assembly including motor. Good luck in your decision and, again, sorry for the tough break!

Almost anything is repairable. A restorer once told me he would take a crumpled beyond recognition Ferrari and restore it at a cost of 10's of thousands of dollars (because it's worth it) Unfortunately our models are totaled because of high repair costs vs current value. It's simply economical to discard and buy another.
My favorite car was totaled just like yours. With all valuable aftermarket parts I bought it back for the parts. I sometimes regret dismantling it especially after I found a fabricator who could have welded a rear clip on for $1k. It was too late, I declared it junk with the DMV. :( |
I would be interested in the headlight door(s) and center vents assembly in dash.

How is the wood trim around the shifter? I also need the center fan button of the three, and if you have a working map light bulb. Thanks.
