FS: 603 #16 head

I've just pulled a 603 head (#16) that appears to be unmolested, uncracked, and not overheated. PM with interest and price you'd consider buying it for.

Note that I have ONE head- and it's not the prone to cracking/over heating #14 version.

Last one I sold was over $500. This one may go for less than that one.

I'm in the midst of pulling one at the junkyard- barring someone else getting it before I go back tomorrow with a longer head bolt tool, I should have it and won't need this one. That said, I'll open the bidding at $200

Could you post the full casting number? There is no "#16" head... the six versions are:

14, 15, 17, 18, 20, and 22.

603-016-xx-01 where "xx" is the casting revision... I'm guessing you read the 5th & 6th digits, intead of the 7th & 8th...?

Positive? I swear I saw one on a 300D in the yards last year. Could have been a 15, car was dirty as hell tho'

I have a 17 and 18 around somewhere, but am holding out for a 22 and I'll flip the others.

Yep, only have positive confirmation on the six casting numbers mentioned above. If there are any others... nobody has been able to prove they exist (yet).

Do normally aspirated 603s use the same casting numbers?

I'm assuming the head castings are the same, but the valves and seats are the difference between NA and turbo.

Turbo heads have different casting numbers (as xx above) than the NA heads, there's a partial chart in the FSM.

Correct. Turbo heads are different castings, which are stronger to handle in the increased power, and increased thermal loads. Kind of a non-issue for USA cars, there were never any normally-aspirated 603's officially imported into the USA, and I've only seen a handful appear on eBay over the years.
