1973-1980 W116 Flat Euro Door Panels (Manual Windows)
I'm selling a set of 4 door panels and all pieces pictured. I removed them from a W116 body style Mercedes a while back. They will fit 1973-1980 W116 body style S-class sedans, which include the 280S, 280SE, 300SD, 350SE, and 450SE. They will not fit long wheelbase sedans (350SEL, 450SEL) because the rear doors are too long.
Even though I am well-versed on the Mercedes-Benz W116 I had never seen door panels like this before! I think they are either an early or European-only option. These are different than the ones you usually see on this body style. They look like W115 or W123 door panels, but they did indeed come from a W116--all the parts have 116 part numbers on them and even have the ducts in the front panels for the "heated door/side window defogger" option exclusive to the W116. I believe they are Tobacco Brown MB-Tex vinyl. These door panels have holes for manual windows, which seems only some Euro-spec cars had. If you have power windows, you can plug the crank holes in front if you wish and cut the crank holes in back slightly larger to fit the rear window switches. They are not in mint condition--but at the very least--overall good, presentable condition, especially for their age. The vinyl is supple and only slightly discolored on the tops where the sun would shine, but almost unnoticeable. The left front door panel has a spot from a black marker (pictured)--I don't know if or how well it will come out. There is some typical scuffing (pictured) on the pocket of this panel from shoes rubbing on it. The right front panel has a small tear (pictured) about a centimeter long, and there are some indentations (pictured) on the left rear panel where the plastic clips from another panel were resting on it when they were in storage--I hope they will disappear in short time. The vinyl handle of the right rear panel is a bit tweaked where a screw goes in and it needs some flattening. This same handle had a metal trim piece missing from it, so I removed one from a W115 sedan that is a close match and hardly noticeable once installed. The vinyl trim piece that goes on the right rear door above the panel is broken off at the top edge (pictured), and the left rear piece is cracked in the same spot. Luckily, the common door panels use these same pieces, so if you already have them on your car you will be fine! The pressboard on the reverse side of the panels is holding up well, and there are only two plastic snap-in clips missing from two of the panels. Three of the chrome rings that surround the door lock plunger are missing but these are common parts that can be found on almost any vintage Mercedes. Other than what I have mentioned, these door panels are in good condition and near complete. What you see is what you get! They are the perfect shade for a car painted Milan Brown. I'd like to get $150 for them plus actual shipping from Tacoma, WA. But I am up for trades/partial trades for items that are useful to me. Here is what I am looking for: Tobacco brown interior (same color as these door panels) for short wheelbase W116 (I have a possible deal worked out for one, though) Wooden (Zebrano) console piece for W116 without power window switches (I think I have a deal worked out for one, though) Wooden (Zebrano) automatic shifter for W116 Trailer hitch for W116 (USA version) Valve wrenches for OM617.95 Headlight wiper/squirter assembly for W116 Grille guard (over rider) for W116 or W111 sedan European headlights for W111, W108, etc. Turn indicators for W110/W111 (by doors) Right side (passenger) mirror for W110/W111 Last edited by Squiggle Dog; 06-02-2009 at 07:58 PM. |

Have I a deal for you!
Have a 1973 450SE that is an almost complete parts car. Engine was running well when parked. Transmission, running gear, a/c, brakes, etc. were all working fine. 4 window motors, regulators, etc. Light Metallic Green with what I think is the same color interior you're showing: I'm just not sure. New German glass windshield & surround. All other glass intact, dash very good. All trim, bumpers, etc. in goodshape. Body straight but has typical underbody rust in floors and sills, etc. Leather on f/r seats is trashed. Wheels with painted covers and Les Schwab Toyo Eclipse radials 75% tread.
Very inexpen$ive. Have pic's if I could ever figure out how to get them to load. Send me an e-mail if you are interested as I want it to go to a good MB home instead of the crusher. Regards, Norm Quote:
