Free 300D Rear Axle (OBO)
I replaced the left rear axle on my '84 300D today, and I would love somebody else to reboot the old one and make use of it.
The inner boot is badly torn, and I cannot attest to the condition of the inside (because I wouldn't know the difference between a good one and a bad one inside). When I drove it, there were no suspicious sounds or shaking, so I think there's a good chance you could get a lot of use out of it with a new boot. However, it might be an original part, which would give it 356k miles. I'm not sure. It is "Homokinetic," which means that you would have to take apart the differential to install it (not like the "annular" model, which can be detached separately from the differential). There is a small chance that I have these terms reversed since the axle I bought to replace it was advertised as homokinetic but looks like the kind that can be taken apart. (see this post for identification: Identify these CV shafts!) I'd be happy to give it away for free (no strings attached), but if I get a better offer, I'd like that, too. I live in NYC, but I frequently travel to Western Massachusetts (and the axle is there now). I will also be making some trips to Troy, NY (near Albany), so I could make arrangements to give it to in any of these places. I don't want to ship it. Sorry. P.S. Actually, I will be replacing my other one pretty soon, too (that one is annular), so I will actually have two to offer. The second also has a torn boot, but not as bad. If you are interested, please email me at mikerancourt AT hotmail DOT com. Thanks. |
