Smile Performance header for M103/M104 engines

I just finished the prototype performance header for M103/M104 engines, tell me what you think. Constructed with 304 Stainless steel.

Very cool indeed.

Has it been been put to the test on the dyno? The stock exhaust manifolds are already incredibly free flowing, but something like this for the cool factor and a little boost in power would be cool.

Nice job!

That is a really nice looking piece of work. Do you plan on selling these? Do you have any stats, dyno reports? I agree with the "cool factor".

my header project

The headers are 3 into 1, front and rear banks then 2 into 1 to the "CAT" . Important attention to detail include the final phase were the 2 into 1 collector transition uses a 3 degree angle of inclination to savage off as much exhaust as possible. The best effort were taken to produce equal length primary tubes and still fit this comfortable into the space allowed. No dyno test yet and all M103 type and M104 type engine through 1998 qualify for this design. Modified flanges to fit the 24 valve engine are available. the following models; 190E/2.6, all 124 and 210 bodies till 1998 work with these headers.

my header project

The project was designed for track and off road use w/disclaimer. Production runs will follow after dyno and cost analysis to reproduce are completed. I hope to offer this at a price close to 1K. It will be available for all M103 engines which include the 2.6L engine, M104 engines which include the 2.8L engine. All AMG versions can use this header that are versions of either the M103 or M104 format. OEM emission fittings and O2 sensor bung are included with emission fitting capped off. Thanks for your interest.

Rough dimensions? I'd like to see if this will fit under the hood of my W126.

Is your 126 a 300SE or SEL? If so, we can make it work with little or no changes. That would be very COOL.

SEL, the W126 difference is all out back. So this should fit SE model cars too. Also the W126 seems to have more space under the hood for this to fit.

Lastly, I've read that the factory converter pipe is the same (dimensionally) despite the W126 cars having precats.

Absolutely, the M104 variation of the M103 header shown in this thread was my intent from the beginning. The M104 which is what in your S320 can be adapted to fit with very little effort. The M104 header takes into consideration that the 24 valve exhaust ports are paperclip like shape whereas the 12 valve engines have round exhaust ports. SL's, SE's, 24 valve 300CE's,190E 2.6, E320's, and C3.2 and 3.6 AMG. I even know of a limited reproduction 300SL Gullwing that uses the M103 would work with final fit modification. Let's do it !

Wow, great job man. Not only did you improve on the original design from a performance aspect, you also made it much easier to access the idler arm bolt and left side motor mount bolt on the w201. Well done!
