I am selling a Mercedes-Benz transmission removed from a 1979 300SD, VIN # 11612012008437. It is a 4 speed torque converter automatic transmission, part number 722.120
VB:W 4 B 025 USA (up to 1980). It will fit 1978-1980 W116 300SD sedans with the OM617.95 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine. I cannot guarantee it will work in other models because though it may bolt up to them, the gearing may not be correct for different engine types.
I bought this as a spare for my 1979 300SD when I had it, and it's been stored in the garage for about a year. It was rebuilt about 15 years ago and was working great on the car it was in until the flex disc on the engine shattered. The broken pieces of the flex disc scratched up the inside of the bell housing. I don't think any pieces of metal got inside the transmission as there is a seal around the torque converter shaft that would prevent this. I would still drain the fluid out of the transmission and change the filter before use. I would use the bellhousing and torque converter from your old transmission (unless the deep scratches don't bother you).
I am asking $100 for the transmission--or possible trade for other Mercedes parts, like a rear axle from a W108 280SE 4.5, an air cleaner from a W111 or W108, various W111 fintail parts...
The thing is, you would have to pick this up in Tacoma, Washington state because I have never shipped anything like it and I think it would be really hard to do/not worth my time. Make me an offer if you want it and have the means to pick it up. I also have it posted in the local craigslist.
