FS: H&R springs for 500E

My 1992 500E came with H&R springs installed, and the car was just a bit lower than I liked. So, I got a set of used stock springs to install. I don't plan to use the H&R's so they're up for sale. These will lower the car approximately 0.75-1.00 inches compared to stock. You will need to adjust the SLS turnbuckle to get the rear end lowered, and an MB spring compressor (or clone) will be needed to install the front springs. I would strongly recommend they be installed with 4-pt front pads and 1-pt rear, if you put 1pt up front it will be sitting on the suspension stops. As it is, with 4pt fronts it's awfully close to the stops. Anyway - photo below, what you see is what you get. Note that these are deisgned for use with SLS.

$300 USD, plus shipping. Most places in USA would be approx $25 via FedEx Ground.

Do you have a picture of the car prior to removal?

curious to see how low it was?

Would these work in a 300SDL?

I would not use these springs in anything except a 500E, which has rear SLS, and therefore will not work properly in any car without SLS.

Here's a photo of the car with the springs installed:

It's at least half the size it needs to be. *sigh* But assuming you are referring to the background of the photo, that's my workshop, which has three bays... floor space is 24x36. After the walls are lined with shelves, workbench, tool boxes, sets of wheels/tires, there is precious little room inside!

So, in addition to a three-bay workshop with a lift, you also have a garage?

Correct. The house has a small 2-car garage attached, but the W124's barely fit inside. I don't think a W140 would fit! But it does keep 'em out of the rain & snow. I tell people that I bought a nice shop and it came with a free house, lol. In the Boise area, it's very common for houses to have 2-3 car garages (usually larger than mine) along with a detached workshop / barn of some sort.

Would these work on my '87 300TD that *does* have SLS? Is the 500E lower in stock form than the wagon? I'm rebuilding my rear suspension at the moment so might as well go whole hog!

John, that is a good question. The fronts should be ok, but I'm not sure if the rear would be stiff enough to handle a load in the wagon. Unloaded, or with a few passengers, it might be fine. If you intend to put any serious cargo in there, then I don't know. At any rate, I'd suspect the car would end up fairly low.
