I have a '93 300D with 269K miles on it and the last 60K miles it has been slipping/shuddering in first gear.

The shudder is gone. I guess it transitioned to slippage.

Off the line I have to feather the throttle and baby it until it gets into second.

After that I have no problems.

I've only had the car 69K miles so I don't know the history of the tranny before that.

I know where I can get a rebuilt transmission for $1500 but that is a last resort(I only paid $2,225 for the whole car).

Any help is appreciated...

I've got a 93 parts car. the car has 360k on it, and the PO sold it to me because of a snapped chain... he said it drove fine. I have NO proof of that.

Did you ever find a transmission? What did it cost you? Did you install it yourself?

i am going to try and perform a 5 speed swap from a 190e to my 1995 e300d during the christmas break. i only have 38k on my e300d and am looking to sell the auto transmission, once pulled. It sounds like you are not wanting to spend a lot, which i understand, but i just wanted to throw it out there for you. i was looking to get $2000, and therefore probably does not interest you. this is practically a brand new trans.

I have a lower mileage, 115k as I recall trans from a 95. I bought the engine and trans. The car was running fine when the oil pump chain broke. I still wanted only the engine for a project. I would like to get $800 plus shipping for the transmission. I am in Western Pa.

I have a very good shifting '87 300D auto transmission

I have a complete 5-spd "swap kit" for a diesel w124. No M103 flywheel tho.
