price question on w123 euro bumpers

I recently found a person parting out a w123 euro wagon. he wants 250 for the pair of bumpers. they are the single piece euros with the rubber ends. they look to be in presentable condition (ie, look better then my coupe.) does this seem like a fair price for both the front and rear bumpers?. also. will the single piece bumper fit a coupe, and (because its a wagon) will the rear bumper fit? Ive read posts about them and it just left me confused.

it also has an air dam in shotty condition that might actually be a legit amg. I need to look first though cause its 2 1/2 hours away. wants 100 for it.

Well it depends on the condition - as always... Take a look at the prices in Germany on ebay - you'll probably be shocked.

As a point of reference I can find (over here in Europe) a new replica chromed front or rear bumper for about 130 euros a piece - but that excludes the rubber trim bits that go along the front and the rubber corners.

I've found replica rubber corners for 20 euros a piece but I don't think they include the metal supports behind. These have bolts that attach through the front wings.

There is also a metal strengthening piece behind the main part of the bumper and two C shaped brackets that hold it in place.

Take a look at the prices published on this site - fastlane - or all parts express

Dealer prices for bits over here:-

Rubber corners with strengthening plates and all fixing bits - 140 euros a piece

Today's exchange rate => 1 USD == 0.75 euros

Be careful to check the inside of both bumpers. If they have been bastardized by the USDOT, they will have an additional support welded to the strengthening piece. This extra support is simply a piece of channel steel and because it was usually never painted, it would cause a lot of rust, which would eventually eat through the bumper.

If they are in good condition and if they come with the rubber ends and mounting brackets, then I think $250 is a fair price.

The single piece & 3-piece bumpers both fit all W123 cars. The rear wagon bumper, however, has two cut-outs on either side on the bottom for extra light installation, that the other single-piece bumpers don't have, so it might look a little strange on a coupe.

thanks for the info about the bumpers. perhaps I can pick these up if they are in good condition, I could trade the wagon bumper for a regular euro bumper to someone here on the forum

Make sure you check for the straightness of the bumpers before getting them. I bought a very mint set of Euro bumpers only to find out it's bent in two ways but you could hardly tell and would not fit properly without significant bending/tweaking. The rear bumper should have a certain curvature that follows the rear curve of the car.

Sold them to a member with full disclosure as to what I thought the problem was for the same price I got the bumpers, plus the mounting brackets and other ancillary bits, for in hopes they could fix it and really make use of them.

The 3-piece bumpers are more prone to this due to the way they mount to the body, but the 1 piece with rubber ends are not exempted.

Your coupe would look best with the coupe 3-piece Euro bumpers. The bumpers with rubber ends will look odd on the coupe.

Does anyone have a view concerning the opposite?

Would coupe bumpers look good on a sedan?

I'd rather have the coupe bumper too, but 250 for both bumpers on a local pickup kinda peeked my interest. I'd happily trade these to a member for the 3 piece bumpers since these are for a wagon though. any takers?
