How to ship a fender?
My brother-in-law picked up a fender for my 115. Problem is, I'm in Chicago and he's in San Diego. Does anyone know of an economical way to ship it? I paid less than $100 for the fender and it doesn't seem right to spend more than that to ship it.

Cheapest way to go is via freight (truck).
You have to get creative with cardboard and wrap it up well! I sent a fender for a '66 Olds Toronado from Madison, WI to upstate NY for about $120. The fender was 6' tall, so you should be able to find a similiar if not better price. I don't recall the name of the freight co. and no longer have the receipt, but check the yellow pages for freight co's. |

Understand your issue, but pay the freight
I agree with W126. The key is to ensure that your good deal arrives safely, not the cost of the freight.
Bear in mind, you're asking them to do alot for the $$$$. Pick-up, consolidate, ship 2/3 of the way across country, break bulk, deliver, bill, invoice, receive payment and protect the freight. Again, focus on getting it there safely, not cheaply. |
