For sale in So. Cal.: Set of 4 Mercedes Benz Light Alloy Disc Wheels

For sale in So. Cal.: Set of 4 Mercedes Benz Light Alloy Disc Wheels.
$160.00 + shipping & Handling

Part number is 123 400 13 02 and appears on all four wheels. The wheels are in near new used condition.

These wheels were originally spec'd on US bound w123 240D models during the early 80's. They are a direct fit for the w123 chassis as well as many other Mercedes Benz chassis'.

Wheel specs, are 5 1/2J x 14. Full wheel covers will fit onto these alloy wheels with no modification, the dog dish style will NOT fit.

These wheels are desired for their lightweight (approx. 12-13lbs each); which reduces un-sprung weight and greatly improves handling and economy while maintaining the classic look and feel that Mercedes Benz hub caps provide. Lose the steel wheels! Your 67 hp 240 D will thank you.

I will ship these for the cost of shipping plus $30.00 boxing/handling.
$160.00 set of 4 Rich wvobenzs@yahoo.com

Clarification/correction: "full wheel cover" hubcaps will fit these. Dog dish and trim ring hub caps will _not_ fit these. Somebody buy these - it's a great price on a great wheel. I have these on my 71 250 C and I'm about to put them (the 6" variety) on my 123 wagon (at least if I can get hubcaps...)

If you come across another set in 6" width I'd appreciate the lead with size and offset. No access to needed size at the moment, I'm trying to go back to original look of hubcaps on a W107 280SL euro without the weight of steel wheels.

Thanks!

My quick google search indicates that W123 wheel sizes are
14 x 5.5 30 offset and
14 x 6.0 30 offset
Someone else has posted:
There are two basic offsets. The early cars had a small offset:
Pontons, Fintail, 108/109, 114/115, 116, 126, 123 and 107
More recent cars had the larger offset:
201, 124, 202, 140, 129, 210, etc, etc.
I would have guessed 107 to be in the later group, but I really don't know.

The same person says that the early offsets are:
6.0 X 14 ET30
6.5 X 14 ET30
6.5 X 15 ET30
7.0 X 15 ET25
8.0 X 16 ET23
And that the late offsets are:
5.5 X 14 ET35
5.0 X 14 ET50
6.0 X 15 ET49
6.5 X 15 ET49
7.0 X 15 ET44
I find it notable that this person's early list doesn't include the 5.5 x 14 nor does it include the 13" wheels that would be on 190 SLs, Pontons, and some fintails. It is my understanding that the W123 offset works correctly on the 13" wheel cars in addition to the others listed as "early cars".

I think that answers your question. Oh, and I have a good supply of the 6" wheels but I want a small fortune for them. I worked very hard to get them and I'm sure that you will too!

Anorak fact:

Alloy wheel hubcaps had plastic ends on the metal clips that attach the hubcap. Steelies, had the metal clips, no plastic sleeve.

Agreed, part number 123 400 00 27, MSRP $5.75 each. (was less when I bought a bag of them sometime back...) Nothing wrong with used ones, they are just filthy but who cares, it's the inside of a hubcap for gods sake....

Crazy good price, they really should be 2x that price.

They saved me 60 lbs total with the 4-wheels and spare I put on my 280C!!!

Yeah, they look good. I always wondered what they'd look like polished; still waiting for someone to undertake the challenge.

If you are going to go to the trouble of painting them and then not using a full wheel cover, why not paint them the body color and fit the pins to hold the dog-dish Mercedes hubcap.... Just a thought, and yes it has been done in the 190 SL group....
