123 fresh air grills

I have a nice extra set of the chrome plastic fresh air grills for the 123 cars. $15 for the pair, plus maybe $3.00 shipping.

Also have a pair of the plain black ones (for the 240D, I think). $10 for the pair, plus $3.00 shipping.

Dibbs !!

I'd like to lay claim to the chrome grills pending discussion of their condition. And a statement that you will not be a Donkey on this transaction.

123 fresh air grills

OK, Ken, they're yours if you want them. After looking at them hard, I can tell you this:

There are two styles of the grills, apparently. The ones I have for sale have a fine mesh screen, as compared to the ones on my 1979 300TD, which have a noticeably wider mesh. Otherwise, they are identical.

As for condition: The passenger side one has the chrome flaking off in just one corner--the one toward the hood and toward the center of the windshield. The amount of chrome (or whatever it is) that is missing is very small. Less than the size of a small fingernail. Otherwise, it is fine. The driver side one does not have any flaking at all.

And I PROMISE you that I will NOT be a Donkey in this or any other transaction. You have this guarantee--if you don't like them, I send you your money back the day I receive the grills back. I pay the shipping to you; you pay it back to me.

Let me know what you think.

They do sound like an improvement over what I've got on the car now. I would guess the shipping cost is going to be higher than $3 so I'm willing to pay actual costs. Whatever it takes to wrap them in paper and box them well. Are you shipping UPS or USPS or another alternative?

If you are talking about the fine-mesh screen underneath the grills' rails, then I believe my '82 300D probably does have that fine-screen style. I'd like to get home and check that out to be sure.

Are you interested in PayPal? Money Order? Personal Check?

Western Union?

Western Union? You are a funny man, Ken. I thought I'd box them up and send them First Class in the mail. They're very light. If you want them, I could just box them carefully and mail them to you, then e-mail you with the actual shipping. How's that sound? Let me know. As for payment, a personal check is fine.

That sounds like a good plan. I'll be in touch with you this evening when I can get to my E-Mail account to give you the shipping details.

Hi Joe - I received the chrome grills A-OK. They are great. Much better than what's on the car now. So much chrome is flaking off on the old ones they are obviously showing a lot of plastic. Too bad they are not real chromed metal. I wonder if plastic can be rechromed?

As far as payment goes. Well. Ulp. I seem to be disorganized here...... Ummm. Ulp. Can't find my checkbook. Well. Ahhhh. The dog ate all my stamps too. Ahhh. Ulp. I was wondering if you would take Swiss bullion in payment? This is easily collectible in person. I can give you the street address for the Bank of Zurich no problem.

Glad you liked the grills, Ken. Do you have any relatives in MN by chance?

Well, you see, I prefer to give my location as Northern Virginia, Minnesota, Florida, California, Wyoming and Istanbul. This makes it a little harder for the bill collectors to track me down. Guess I shouldn't mention that since we are in a sticky financial transaction here.

Seriously though, I got the check in the mail today.
