WTB: 300e w124 mushroom LEATHER interior

My butt can't tolerate the tex seats anymore. I would like both fronts and the rear, but if someone has the 2 front seats, I could live with that.

From my searches, I guess that the leather was only in the 90+ models? Can anyone confirm this?

Also, My car is an 89, is this a basic plug and play, or am I just dreaming?

Pm me, or email eugene@lorainfurniture.com

Leather was available in all years, but the early ('86-'89?) leather was a bit more durable/stiff and the padding not as good. Look for the perforated leather strips down the middle.

Not plug & play, I am currently putting '94 seats in my '87. The memory module is different, I have gone with this thread from Johnscars: Swapped seats from a E320 into my 87 300TD

Says the driver's seat needs to be swapped with the old motor/base, passenger seat is plug-n-play.

So the drivers seat involves removing the the actual leather and attaching it to the existing seat frame?

The passenger side can be swapped out as a whole?

No.

Seat removed by unbolting 4 10mm fasteners, at each corner of the frame.

Flip seat upside down, then remove the 6 fasteners holding the adjusting base to the bottom of the seat frame.

Reinstall your original adjusting base to the new seat frame.

Reinstall using the original 4 fasteners.

Done.

Note: Leather was available all years, but more prevalent on later cars. The 86-89 leather can be found by looking at the pleats. Full pleats = Tex, partial pleats = Leather. The 90-95 has side to side stitching for the leather, fore/aft pleat for Tex (same as 86-89).

The driver's side I started last night (see thread attached to post #2 for photos), remove three bolts/side to remove the entire seat from the power-base. THE SEAT MUST BE RUN TO/NEAR THE FRONT OF ITS TRAVEL TO ACCESS FRONT SCREWS. Passenger side I have not yet started, but John's write-up indicates that it is a direct-swap. If from a dual-airbag car (my donor), I believe that there'll be an extra connector on the new seat.

<<edit>> You beat me to it Jim.

These are the seats im looking for
WTB: 300e w124 mushroom LEATHER interior-img_0822.jpg

This is the one in my 300se. I could drive forever in that seat.

So just so I unserstand, does the sliding rail come off with the 4 bolts?

Or, just unbolt the motors etc, and detach the cables?

Thanks again for the replies.

Did you look at the photo in the referenced thread?

Remove the entire seat assembly from the car,

Turn the seat upside-down,

Remove two screws (front) and four bolts (sides/rear) and unplug two connectors (photos in referenced thread) and lift the entire motor/slide assembly from the seat bottom,

Replace with the motor/slide assembly from your car,

Replace the seat assembly in your car.

I did read the thread, Im just trying to visualize where the back of the seat attaches to.

It must attach to the cushion part of the seat? I remember taking a similar seat apart at one time and finding a cable that adjusted the headrest.

Sorry if I don't understand right away, I catch on a lot quicker when I see it versus reading.

Again, thank you for your input!

I do not believe "mushroom" is a factory colour. You might have meant Parchment.

I think that car would look better with a good set of mb tex seats, wanna trade?

I tolerated those seats for years now, and I just cant handle it anymore. I will miss the fact that they wont rip under nearly any circumstance.

I swapped the '94 seats tonight.

As we were told, the driver/memory seats are wired differently, so I did use the motor/base from my original seats. The passenger seat plugged in with no changes.

Since the seats I have are from a passenger-airbag car there is an orange connector under each seat that is not used on my car.

I was going to use the new driver's seat base, just swap the circuit-box, not compatible without other changes.
